Dismissal of Territorials from the New Zealand Defence Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor has approved, under section 6 (b) of the Defence Act, 1909, of the dismissal of

19/1796, WILLIAM HENRY HOBBS, New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps, Corps of New Zealand Engineers; and

No. 21/2442, Private LAURIE DAVIES, Queen Alexandra’s 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles,

from the New Zealand Defence Forces, they having been convicted by the Civil power of theft. Dated 14th June, 1917.

Special Order made by the Moa Road Board.

THE following special order, made by the Moa Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in it in that behalf by section 16 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf enabling, and with the written consent of the ratepayers of the Mangaotea No. 2 Special-rating Area hereinafter described, testified by a petition signed by not less than three-fourths of the ratepayers of the aforesaid Mangaotea No. 2 Special-rating Area the capital value of whose properties as appearing on the valuation roll of the district is collectively greater than the capital value of the properties of those ratepayers who did not so consent, the Moa Road Board hereby resolves by way of special order as follows :—

That, for the purpose of forming and metalling Mangaotea Road within the Mangaotea No. 2 Special-rating Area, the Moa Road Board hereby authorizes the raising of a loan of £445, such loan to be for a period of thirty-six years and a half, at the rate of £5 12s. 2d. per centum per annum; to strike as security for such loan a special rate of one penny and one-third of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Mangaotea No. 2 Special-rating Area, comprising part Section 26 (containing 30 acres), part Section 27 (containing 44 acres 2 roods), part Section 28 (containing 69 acres 2 roods 11 perches), part Section 32 (containing 73 acres), Sections 33, 34, 35, Block V, Huiroa Survey District, which are hereby constituted the Mangaotea No. 2 Special-rating District; and to pay out of such loan the cost of raising.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly passed.

PATEA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Merging certain Road Boards into County.—Special Order duly made by Patea County Council on 21st May, 1917.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in it in that behalf by section 31 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Patea County Council, on the petition of a majority of the ratepayers of the undermentioned road districts, resolved by way of special order that on and after the 1st day of July, 1917, the said road districts—viz., Kohi, Wairoa, Motorua, Okutuku, and Whenuakura-Waitotara—shall be merged in the County of Patea, and the Boards thereof abolished.
