France at Auckland or the French Consular Agents at Wellington or Dunedin. In this connection it is necessary that the name of the port of disembarkation in France should be declared, in order that such information may be stated in the consular endorsement.

It should further be noted that persons proposing to travel to France via England must, in addition to the above, have them vised at the Passport Bureau of the Consul-General for France at London or of the French Consulates at Liverpool, Southampton, or Folkstone. Persons failing to comply with these requirements will not be admitted into France.

Notice of Intention to take Land for Scenic Purposes in Block III, Kiri Survey District.


N OTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for scenic purposes :

And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Pipiriki, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :

478 acres.

Portion of Subdivision 14 of Taumata-mahoe 2b No. 2b (Taranaki R.D.), Block III, Kiri Survey District.

In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40573, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon edged pink.

As witness my hand, at Wellington, this 26th day of August, 1916.

In the Auckland Land District ; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40144, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

War Legislation Amendment Act, 1916—Modification of Fifth Schedule to Education Act, 1914 (Staffs of Public Schools).

I N pursuance of the provisions of section 15 of the War Legislation Amendment Act, 1916, I, Josiah Alfred Hanan, Minister of Education, do hereby make the following modifications of the provisions of the Fifth Schedule to the Education Act, 1914, such modifications to come into force from the date hereof, and to remain in force for the duration of the present war with Germany and for six months thereafter, unless previously revoked :—

The reduction in staff provided for by clause 2 of the regulations relating to grading of schools, staffs, and salaries of teachers in the Order in Council of the 21st December, 1914, shall be made if any one of the conditions in columns 2, 3, or 4 of Table C for the particular grade or subgrade of school is fulfilled. The figures in columns 2, 3, and 4 of Table C shall be as follows :—

Average Attendance for Year immediately preceding. Average Attendance has fallen Staff to be as for a School with Average Attendance.
