Vesting the Control of Reserves 3106, 3231, 3736, and 3737, Pigeon Bay Survey District, and Reserve 3988, Halswell Survey District, in the Summit Road Scenic Board, under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserves described in the Schedule hereto (being lands reserved under the said Act), in trust, for the purposes of scenery preservation, as from the date of this notice until the twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the Summit Road Scenic Board, as constituted by notification dated the twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, and published in Gazette of the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 17 acres, more or less, being Reserve 3106, Blocks IX and X, Pigeon Bay Survey District.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being Reserve 3234, Block X, Pigeon Bay Survey District.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 109 acres, more or less, being Reserve 3736, formerly Section 7, Block IX, Pigeon Bay Survey District (Morie Settlement).

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 15 acres 0 roods 20 perches, more or less, being Reserve 3737 formerly Section 10, Block IX Pigeon Bay Survey District (Morie Settlement).

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 0 roods 11 perches, more or less, being Reserve 3988, formerly part of Rural Section 21316, Block XII, Halswell Survey District, and being all the land included in certificate of title, Vol. 301, folio 6, Canterbury Land Registration District, and deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, as Canterbury Deed No. 1154.

Warrant authorizing the Thames County Council to construct a Bridge over the Piako River at Ngatea (the Orchard) in the Thames County, and apportioning the Cost.

W HEREAS by section one hundred and nineteen of the Public Works Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that in any case where the local authority of any district desires to construct a bridge, or to establish a ferry or ford, in any position that will, in its opinion, be of advantage or benefit to the whole or any considerable portion of the inhabitants of an adjacent district, as well as to the inhabitants of its own district, and where it is, in the opinion of such local authority, reasonable that the local authority of such adjacent district should contribute to the cost of constructing or establishing the said bridge, ferry, or ford, the provisions of the said section shall have effect :

And whereas the Thames County Council has given notice and taken the steps required by the said Act, and has made application to the Governor to authorize the construction of the bridge and approaches mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and hereinafter referred to as “the said work,” and to apportion the cost of constructing and establishing the said work between the said Council and the Ohinemuri County Council :

And whereas it has been agreed by and between the Thames County Council and the Ohinemuri County Council that the cost of constructing the said work shall be borne by the said Councils in the following proportions—viz., the Thames County Council shall pay eighty-five per centum and the Ohinemuri County Council shall pay fifteen per centum of such cost respectively :

And whereas no objection has been made by the other local authority which it is proposed should contribute to the cost of the said work :

And whereas I am of opinion that the said work should be done, and that it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter set forth :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Act, and all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby authorize the Thames County Council to execute the said work, and I do hereby declare that the cost thereof shall be borne by the Thames County Council and the Ohinemuri County Council in accordance with the aforesaid agreement ; and I do hereby further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Ohinemuri County Council shall be paid from time to time, in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed, out of the funds of the said Council, within a period of one month after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Thames County Council ; and all such payments shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the Thames County Council for and on behalf of the Ohinemuri County Council.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Piako River at Ngatea (the Orchard), in the Thames County, Auckland Land District, together with the approaches thereto. As the site of the said bridge and the bridge and approaches thereto are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40312, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-first day of August, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.
