Caution.—The ball signals made from Bay Rock are distant signals to the Pilot-station, Townsville, and are not in any way connected with tide-signals.

INNER ROUTE TO TORRES STRAIT.
Notice is hereby given that the master of the s.s. “Roseric” reports that while approaching Molle Channel from the northward, and when 1½ miles to the southward of Grimston Point, the port bilge of his vessel touched some obstruction in latitude 20° 10′ 40″ south, longitude 148° 44′ east.
When the vessel touched, the north-west end of Long Island was in line with Pioneer Point, and the following are the bearings taken immediately afterwards:—
Hannah Point, south 79½° east magnetic.
Pioneer Point, south 51½° east magnetic.
The draft of the “Roseric” at the time of touching was 24 ft. 11 in. aft and 24 ft. 6 in. forward.
A search is being made for the reported obstruction, and in the meantime mariners are cautioned to observe the utmost care when navigating in the locality referred to.

VICTORIA.
GELLIBRAND PILE LIGHT.—PORT PHILLIP.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that on or about 20th July, 1916, the light at the Point Gellibrand Pile Light-house will be altered to a flashing white light visible from seaward and from Hobson’s Bay, with a flash of half a second duration, followed by an eclipse of one and a half seconds—thus giving thirty flashes to the minute.
The flashes will show red over the waters adjacent to the western and eastern shores of Port Phillip as at present.
No alteration will be made in the system of fog-signals.

TAURANGA HARBOUR.—ALTERATION IN POSITION OF BUOY.

THE Tauranga Harbour Board advises that on and after Thursday, the 10th instant, the black cask buoy with surmount, bearing Whareroa Point S. 22° E. magnetic, Shelly Mound N. 30° E. magnetic, will be in a position 210 ft. due E. magnetic of its present position.
