Opening Land in Canterbury Land District for Sale or Selection.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the sixth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—ASHBURTON COUNTY.—
ALFORD SURVEY DISTRICT.

First-class Land.

SECTIONS 19, 20, 21, Block V: Area, 60 acres. Capital value, £150. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £3 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3. These sections, which comprise steep hilly ground, are situated adjacent to the junction of the Stour River with the south branch of the Ashburton River, and near to the Mount Somers Coal-pit, the distance from the Mount Somers Township being about eight miles.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

Trustees for the Taihape Public Cemetery appointed.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

WILLIAM JAMES HALL McCORMICK and
GEORGE EDWARD LITTLE

to be Trustees, in the places of William Francis Stephens, deceased, and Frederick William Sommerville, who has resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Taihape Public Cemetery, in conjunction with John Petty Aldridge, Thomas Joseph Shute, George Bray, George Wrightson, and Thomas Bason, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

Notice of Application to proclaim a Watercourse, together with all its Tributaries, for the Deposit of Tailings, &c.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Mining Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor hereby notifies that application has been made to him to constitute and set apart by Proclamation the watercourse the name, locality, and description whereof are set forth in the Schedule hereto to be a watercourse into which may be discharged any tailings, debris, and waste water produced by or resulting from mining operations carried on under the said Act.

Any person who objects to such Proclamation being made, or whose land or riparian or other rights in respect of such land will be damaged or injuriously affected by the operation thereof, is required to serve on the Minister of Mines, within the period of ninety days after the publication hereof in the Gazette, full particulars of such objection, and also a claim in the prescribed form setting forth full particulars of all compensation that will be claimed by him in the event of such Proclamation being made.

No person will be entitled to any compensation for damage or injury consequent on the operation of such Proclamation unless his claim is duly served in the manner and within the period aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

THAT part of the Buller River which flows north-westerly from where it debouches from Lake Rotoiti, for a distance of about fourteen miles, to its confluence with the River Hope; and also the several tributaries thereof.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

THAT stream, known as the Te Puhoe Stream, which flows south-westerly from its source in the southern part of Block XI, Hastings Survey District, Thames County, to the Firth of Thames, a distance of about fifteen miles; and also the several tributaries thereof.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

Withers, M.D., Henry Phillips, Alfred James Inwood, James Storry, Frederick John Lemon, and Peter Chamberlain, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.
