Special Order made by the Otamatea County Council altering the Boundaries of Matakohe Road District.

THE following special order, made by the Otamatea County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

OTAMATEA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order altering Boundaries of the Matakohe Road District.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 10 of the Road Boards Act, 1908, and section 34 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1913, the Otamatea County Council resolves, by way of special order, that the portion of the Matakohe Road District as described in the Schedule hereunder be annexed to the adjoining outlying district of the Matakohe Riding of the County of Otamatea, and cease to form part of the said Matakohe Road District as from the date of the coming into force of this special order—namely, 31st March, 1917.

Schedule.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Blocks XVI, Tokatoka, XIII, Matakohe, III, Te Kuri, and I, Hukatere Survey Districts. Bounded towards the north-east generally by the road forming the south-western boundaries of Allotments 152, 151, 150, 149, and 149A, Omaru Parish; by Allotment 260, Matakohe Parish; across and by the road forming the northern and eastern boundaries of Allotment 257, Matakohe Parish aforesaid; by Allotments 259, 55, 56, and 57 of the last-mentioned parish, and the road forming the south-western boundaries of Allotments 53A, 53, and 54 of the same parish to the stream intersecting the said road, and by the said stream to the Wairoa River; towards the south generally by the Wairoa River aforesaid to the Awaroa Stream; and towards the north-west generally by the Awaroa Stream aforesaid to Section 2A, Block XVI, Tokatoka Survey District (closed road); by that section and Allotment I, Omaru Parish, to the point of commencement; also including Section 17, Block III, Te Kuri Survey District.

The common seal of the body corporate of the County of Otamatea was affixed to the foregoing resolution this 19th day of June, 1916, in the presence of—

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ Shops and Tobacconists’ Shops in the City of Nelson, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’ shops and tobacconists’ shops in the City of Nelson, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 8.30 p.m.; Wednesday, 1 p.m.; Thursday, 8.30 p.m.; Friday, 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 p.m.; Christmas and New Year’s Eves to be excepted. Where a holiday falls on Saturday, then for the purpose of this requisition such shops shall be closed on the preceding Friday at 10 p.m.:

And whereas the Nelson City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’ shops and tobacconists’ shops within the City of Nelson:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of July, 1916, all such shops in the City of Nelson shall be closed as follows: Mondays, at 6 p.m.; Tuesdays, 8.30 p.m.; Thursdays, 8.30 p.m.; Fridays, 6 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 p.m.; with the following exceptions—(a) Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when there shall be no closing-hour; (b) the eve of any holiday generally observed in the City of Nelson that falls on a Saturday, when the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m. The hours so fixed are pursuant to subsection (4) of the above-mentioned section, to be observed subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. for the half-holiday on the statutory closing-day.

The notice gazetted on the 3rd March, 1910, is hereby cancelled.

Notice to Importers of Tools made from High-speed Steel or Carbon Steel.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 7th July, 1916.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Imperial Government will not permit the exportation from the United Kingdom without a license of any small tools (made from high-speed steel or carbon steel), including all cutting tools and fittings, which are not an integral part of a machine tool.

Any person or firm desirous of importing such tools from the United Kingdom should make application to this office to ascertain the conditions under which the necessary license will be issued.

The notice respecting high-speed tools issued on 10th February last is cancelled.
