A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon
me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settle-
ment Act, 1915, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the area of settlement
land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the
same is hereby set apart and declared open for disposal by
way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under special
tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the
Purposes of a Road at Hawarden, in the Waipara County.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
forms part of land taken for the purposes of the
Hurunui-Waitaki Railway, and it is considered desirable to
allocate such land to the purposes of a road:
And whereas it has been certified by the Minister of Rail-
ways that such land is not required for railway purposes:
And whereas such land is situated in the County of Wai-
para, the local authority of which has assented to the issue
of this Proclamation:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion
that the said local authority can conveniently construct and
maintain the said road:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl
of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by section one hundred and ninety-seven of
the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and
authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand
Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be
under the control of the Waipara County Council, and
shall be maintained by the said Council in like manner as
other public highways are controlled and maintained by the
said Council.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land: 3 acres 3 roods 26
perches.
Portion of railway reserve (S.O. 224v), Block VII, Waipara
Survey District, Waipara County.
In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked W.R. 23734,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at
Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon coloured yellow.

Land taken for the Purposes of Reclamation in the City of
Nelson.

A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken, under the Public Works
Act, 1908, for a certain public work—to wit, for the purposes
of reclamation in the City of Nelson:
And whereas the Nelson City Council has laid before the
Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map in duplicate,
and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said
Act:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl
of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and the Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1908, and of every other power and
authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the said reclama-
tion, as from the date hereinafter specified, and shall vest
in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of
Nelson; and I do also hereby declare that this Proclama-
tion shall take effect on and after the first day of August,
one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land taken: 2 roods
4 perches.
Portion of Section 148, N.R., Block VII, City of Nelson.
In the Nelson Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 38585,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon edged pink.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile,
Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian
Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zea-
land and its Dependencies; and issued under
the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Govern-
ment House at Wellington, this thirtieth day of
