Warrant vesting Control of Raparapawai Bridge and Approaches
in the Woodville County Council, and apportioning the Cost
of maintaining the Same.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and twenty of the
Public Works Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the
said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
by Warrant under his hand, publicly notified and gazetted,
direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may
hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of
the sea respectively shall, from and after the date to be fixed
in such Warrant, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Warrant; and may by any such War-
rant as aforesaid, fix and determine whether all or any, and
if so what part, of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or
thereafter to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving,
or reconstructing any such bridge is to be provided and paid
by the local authority or local authorities, and, if so, by what
local authority or local authorities; and may by any such
Warrant as aforesaid direct how, when, and to whom any such
payment is to be made :
And whereas it is considered expedient to make provision
under the said Act for the purposes and in the manner herein-
after set forth :
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and
authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
direct that the bridge and approaches known as the Rapa-
rapawai Bridge and approaches, as described in the Schedule
hereto, shall, from and after the date of the gazetting hereof,
be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the
Woodville County Council; and, in further pursuance and in
exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, I do hereby
fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing,
improving, or reconstructing the said bridge and approaches
shall be borne by the Woodville County Council.
SCHEDULE.
THAT bridge over the Raparapawai Stream in the Hawke’s
Bay Land District, Woodville County, and known as the
Raparapawai Stream Bridge, situated opposite Section 61,
Block I, Woodville Survey District, together with the ap-
proaches thereto; the southern approach commencing at a
point on the Top Grass Road about 128 links from the southern
end of the said bridge, and proceeding thence in a north-
easterly direction to the southern end of the said bridge; the
northern approach commencing at a point on the said road
about 432 links from the northern end of the said bridge, and
proceeding thence in a south-westerly direction to the northern
end of the said bridge. As the site of the said bridge and
approaches is more particularly delineated on the plan marked
P.W.D. 39976, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public
Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District,
and thereon coloured red.

this twelfth day of June, one thousand nine hun-
dred and sixteen.

Notice exempting Lands from the Provisions of the Mining Act.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me
by the Mining Act, 1908, and of every other power and
authority enabling me in this behalf, I, Arthur William de
Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby, as from the day of the date
hereof, exempt that area of Crown lands situated in Otago
Mining District, described in the Schedule hereto, from mining
on the surface or within fifty feet from the surface thereof.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by ad-
measurement 444 acres 2 roods, more or less, being a portion
of Crown land situated in Block X, Leaning Rock District,
and bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-west
corner of Section 76, Block X, Leaning Rock; thence by said
section, 187° 15′, 809·1 links, 78° 18′, 984 links, 38° 27′, 258·8
links, 82° 20′, 878·3 links, 352° 19′, 319·2 links, to Section 17;
thence by said section, 60° 49′ 30″, 2648·2 links, to the Clyde-
Roxburgh Road; thence by said road, 152° 24′, 2466·2 links,
159° 44′, 2855·7 links, to Section 65; thence by said Section
65, Section 66, and the crossing of the Fraser River to the
west bank, 253°, 2350 links; thence by said west bank to the
closed road on the north boundary of Section 46, Earnscleugh
Settlement, 2300 links; thence by said closed road, 253°,
2425 links, 157° 4′, 100·5 links, by the crossing of a public
road, and Section 45 of Earnscleugh Settlement, 253°, 2531·1
links; thence by Run 249, 246° 13′, 812·6 links, 319° 30′,
1950·9 links, 348° 5′, 1693·5 links, 39° 58′ 30″, 1521 links,
100° 41′ 30″, 1144·5 links, 343° 3′, 995·4 links, 329° 4′, 808·1
links; thence by said Run 249 and the crossing of the Fraser
River to the east bank, 78° 43′ 40″, 1400 links; thence pro-
ceeding in a north-westerly direction by said east bank, 1600
links; thence by said Run 249, 87° 11′ 30″, 340 links, to
Section 17; thence by said Section 17, 92° 15′ 30″, 1159·4
links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less, and excepting from the above-described
boundaries the bed of the Fraser River, and such parts of all
intersecting water-races as may lie within the section com-
prised in the scheme of subdivision, a deduction for all which
exceptions has been made from the area.

this tenth day of June, one thousand nine hun-
dred and sixteen.

vested in me by the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908,

to be a place wherein a Magistrates’ Court shall be held
under the provisions of the said Act.
