Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 31st day of January, 1916, all butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) in the One-tree Hill Road District shall be closed at 5 o’clock p.m. on four days in the week, and 6 o’clock p.m. on one other day in the week, other than the day upon which the statutory half-holiday is observed.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops in the Borough of Devonport, under the Shops and Offices Act.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in which butchers’ meat is sold by retail within the Borough of Devonport, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed on the evening of working-days as follows: 5 o’clock p.m. on four days in the week, and 6 o’clock p.m. on one other day in the week:

And whereas the Devonport Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of butchers’ shops within the Borough of Devonport:

PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Pukekohe taken on the 13th day of January, 1916, on the proposal of the Pukekohe Borough Council to borrow the sum of £6,300 for the purpose of extending and

improving the borough waterworks, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 72, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 103.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Dated this 15th day of January, 1916.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Pukekohe Borough “Town District” Special-rating Area taken on the 13th day of January, 1916, on the proposal of the Pukekohe Borough Council to borrow the sum of £300 for the purpose of building fire-brigade station, and providing equipment for the fire brigade, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 72, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 51.

I therefore declare the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Pukekohe Borough “Drainage” Special-rating Area taken on the 13th day of January, 1916, on the proposal of the Pukekohe Borough Council to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the purpose of installing a drainage scheme within the said special area, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 25, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 41.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Pukekohe held on the 13th day of January, 1916, on the proposal of the Pukekohe Borough Council to borrow the sum of £1,500 for the purpose of constructing septic tank, filter-bed, and part of main sewer (being portion of a drainage scheme), the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 75, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 98.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Pukekohe held on the 13th day of January, 1916, on the proposal of the Pukekohe Borough Council to borrow the sum of £40,000 for the purpose of forming, grading, metalling, and paving the roads and streets in the borough, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 50, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 125.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.
