The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 128, dated 11th November, 1915, appointing 2nd Lieutenant Edmund Colin Nigel Robinson, Unattached List (b), Wellington District, to the 2nd Reinforcements, 1st and 2nd Battalions, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, should read “Lieutenant,” instead of 2nd Lieutenant as therein stated.

Approval of Fees for Licensing of Vehicles fixed by By-law.—Wairewa County Council.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 107 of the Counties Act, 1908, that so much of the by-law made by the Geraldine County Council and sealed on the 6th day to December, 1915, as appoints the several sums to be paid of the Geraldine County Fund for the licensing of vehicles has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor.

EXTRACT FROM THE JOURNALS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, FRIDAY, 1ST OCTOBER, 1915.
Report of the Lands Committee on Paper 175.
THE Lands Committee, to which Paper 175 of this session stood referred under Standing Order No. 332 (f), and has taken the evidence of an officer of the Lands and Survey Department thereon; and that the Committee sees no objection to the proposal contained therein—namely, that Section 14, Block IV, Matiri Survey District, Nelson Land District, should be permanently reserved as an endowment for primary education.
Resolved, “That the report of the Lands Committee upon Paper 175, brought up this day, be agreed to.”

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers' Shops in the City of Auckland, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops within the City of Auckland, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed on the evening of working-days as follows: 5 o'clock p.m. on four days in the week, and 6 o'clock p.m. on one other day in the week:
And whereas the Auckland City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of butchers’ shops within the City of Auckland:
Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 31st day of January, 1916, all butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) in the City of Auckland shall be closed at 5 o'clock p.m. on four days in the week, and 6 o'clock p.m. on one other day in the week, other than the day upon which the statutory half-holiday is observed.
