MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
NO. 3 SPECIAL-RATING AREA.—RECONSTRUCTION OF, AND
OTHER EXTRAORDINARY REPAIRS TO, BRIDGES AND ROADS
DAMAGED BY FLOOD.—RESOLUTION MAKING RATE.
In the matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the
Makara County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
“That, for the purpose of providing for the instalments
in respect of the principal and interest and other charges
on a loan of £1,000, authorized to be raised by the Makara
County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,
for the purpose of constructing new bridges to replace those
that were destroyed by flood in November, 1915, and re-
pairing damage caused by the same flood to other bridges
and roads throughout the Porirua Riding of the Makara
County, and of refunding to the Porirua Riding Account
such sums that have been expended for this purpose prior
to the raising of the loan, the said Makara County Council
hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/32 of one penny
in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable pro-
perty (on the basis of capital value) of the No. 3 Special-
rating Area, comprising the whole of the Porirua Riding
(excepting that portion of the riding known as the No. 2
Special-rating Area, vide the New Zealand Gazette, page 2243,
18th July, 1912), the lands of the No. 3 Special-rating Area
being shown on plan and comprised within the blue tint
thereon. And that such rate shall be an annually recurring
rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable
yearly on the first day of September in each and every year
during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six
years and a half (36½), or until the loan is fully paid off.”
Passed at a duly constituted meeting of the Makara County
Council held in the County Chambers, Ballance Street, Wel-
ington, the fourteenth day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and sixteen.
The common seal of the Makara County Council was
hereto affixed this 14th day of April, 1916.

IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION.
NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 230 of
the Companies Act, 1908, that a general meeting of
the members of the above-named company will be held
at the offices of Messrs. Watkins, Hull, and Wheeler, Johnston
Street, Wellington, on the twenty-third day of May, 1916,
at 2.15 o’clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of having
an account laid before them showing the manner in which
the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the
company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that
may be given by the Liquidators, and also for the purpose
of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in
which the books, accounts, and documents of the company
and of the Liquidators shall be disposed of.

PALMERSTON NORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
THAT, as the amount of the loan of £100,000 known as
“The Gasworks Loan,” authorized under the Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, at a poll of ratepayers taken on the
22nd day of April, 1914, is found insufficient to complete the
undertaking in respect of which it was raised, the Council
of the Borough of Palmerston North hereby decides to borrow
from the same (the Public Trustee) or any other lender a
further sum of £10,000 (being one-tenth of the amount
originally authorized by the ratepayers) at a rate of interest
not exceeding £5 per centum per annum, with a sinking fund
of £1 10s. per centum per annum. And, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the said
Act, the Council of the Borough of Palmerston North hereby
resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing for the interest and
sinking fund and principal and other charges on the said loan
or further sum of £10,000, authorized to be raised aforesaid,
the said Council hereby makes and levies (in addition to the
special rate made and levied in respect of the original loan)
a special rate of one-ninth of a penny in the pound upon the
rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of
Palmerston North, comprising the whole of the said borough,
on the basis of the unimproved value; and that such special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of
such loan or further sum of £10,000, and be payable half-
yearly on the first day of June and the first day of December
in each and every year during the currency of such loan or
further sum, being a period of 33 years, or until the loan or
further sum is fully paid off.
Passed by the Palmerston North Borough Council on the
18th day of April, 1916.
