The total births in the four chief cities and their suburban boroughs amounted to 658, against 623 in February—an increase of 35. The deaths in February were 263—an increase of 31 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 153, females 110. Sixty-two of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 23·57 per cent. of the whole number; 46 of these were under one year of age.

There were 82 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards in the four chief cities and their suburban boroughs, as against 62 in February. The following table shows the classification:—
