Description of Pastoral Runs.—High, unsafe country, suitable only for summer grazing. The altitude is from 3,200 ft. to 3,800 ft. above sea-level. The road surveyed through the runs from north-east to south-west is along the top of the highest ridge, and represents the road from Ida Valley to the Serpentine Diggings. The country to the north-west of the road has a good aspect, and contains many sharp spurs from which the heavy snow disappears within a reasonable time. The tops and the country lying to the south-east of the road probably retain the snow until the season is well advanced. The runs are well watered, and carry good vegetation consisting of good tussock and native grasses. There are roads from Ida Valley and Maniototo Plains. The north-east corner of Run 261q is about eight miles from Ida Valley, and the south boundary of Run 261v is about twelve miles from Linburn Station.
