Education Board Elections, 1916.-Division of Rural Areas into Wards.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and of the Education Amendment Act, 1915 (No. 2), it is hereby publicly notified that, for the purposes of the first election of the Boards of the Education Districts constituted under the above Acts, the names of the wards into which the rural areas of the several education districts have been divided, and also the schools situated in each ward, are indicated in the following schedule, provided that, unless otherwise stated, the counties are to be understood to include the boroughs and town districts situated within such counties except boroughs that form urban areas or parts of urban areas.

SCHEDULE.

Auckland Education District.

I. North Ward, containing the following counties and all the schools situated therein : Mangonui, Hokianga, Whangaroa, Bay of Islands, Whangarei, Hobson, Otamatea, Rodney, Waitemata, and Great Barrier Island.

II. East Ward, containing the following counties and all the schools situated therein : Coromandel, Thames, Ohinemuri, Waikato (except the Hamilton East School), Piako, Tauranga, Matamata, Rotorua, East Taupo, Whakatane, and Opotiki, and also the following schools in the Manukau and Franklin Counties : Clevedon, Flat Bush, Howick, Pakuranga, Panmure, Whitford Nos. 1 and 2, Maraetai Nos. 1 and 2, Mataitai, Papakura Valley Nos. 1 and 2, Wairoa South, Moumoukai, Mercer, Bombay, Drury, Pokeno, Ramarama, Hunua, Kaiawa, Maungatawhiri Valley, Paparata, Ararimu, Paparimu, Orere, and Ponga.

III. West Ward, containing the following counties and all the schools situated therein : Eden, Waipa, Kawhia, Waitomo, West Taupo, and Raglan, also the Hamilton East School in the Waikato County and the following schools in the Manukau and Franklin Counties : Otahuhu, Papakura, Papatoitoi, Mangere Bridge, Manurewa, Ardmore, Mangere, East Tamaki, Weymouth, Pukekohe, Waiuku, Tuakau, Akaka, Buckland, Harrisville, Mauku, Otau, Patumahoe, Pukekohe East, Puni, Waipipi, Whangarata, Awitu Central, Awitu No. 2, Glenbrook, Karaka, Kariaotahi, Orua Bay, Pollock, Waitangi, Kohekohe, Manukau Heads, Te Hihi, and Waiau : Provided that the whole of the Hunt'y and Ohinewai School Districts shall be in the East Ward.

TARANAKI EDUCATION DISTRICT.

I. Central Ward, containing the Counties of Ohura, Whangamomona, and Stratford, and all the schools situated therein, except Mahoe and Rowan Schools, and containing also the following schools in the Clifton and Taranaki Counties : Dudley, Durham, Inglewood, Kaimata, Lincoln, Norfolk, Ratapiko, Tariki, Tarata, Waitui, Matau, Purangi, and Pukeho.

II. North Ward, containing the Counties of Awakino, Clifton, and Taranaki, and all the schools situated therein except the schools named above as being in the Central Ward, and containing also the Newall and Warea Schools in the Egmont County.

III. South Ward, containing the Counties of Hawera, Eltham, Waimate West, and Egmont, and all the schools situated therein except Newall and Warea Schools, and containing also the Rowan and Mahoe Schools in the Stratford County.

WANGANUI EDUCATION DISTRICT.

I. West Ward, containing the Counties of Patea and Waitotara, and all the schools situated therein, and also the following schools in the Counties of Wanganui and Rangitikei : Burnside, Tauakira, Denlair, Kakatahi, Long Acre, Manga-mahu, Matarawa, Ngaturi, Kaitoke, Okoia, Upokongaro, Warnengate, Kaukatea, Watershed Road, Whareroa, Great-ford, Koeke, Livingstone, Makohau, Mangara, Mount Curl, Otairi, Pohonui, Porewa, Poukoire, Pukeroa, Rata-iti, Western Rangitikei, Mount View, Parewanui, Silverhope, Waipuru, Wangaehu, Mangaonoho, Ohingaiti, Rata, South Makirikiri, Upper Tutaenui, Crofton Side, Turakina, Bull's, Hunterville, Marton.

II. North Ward, containing the Counties of Kaitieke, Waimarino, and Kiwitea, and all the schools situated therein, and also the following schools in the Counties of Wanganui, Rangitikei, and Pohangina : Hihitahi, Owhakura, Mataroa, Turangarere, Taihape, Hiwi, Makohine, Manui, Moawhango, Ngawaka, Ohutu, Pakihikura, Pukeokahu, Raukura, Taoroa, Taoraa Road, Tiriraukawa, Upper Kawhatau, Lower Ka-

whatau, Whaka Road, Naumanui, Rongoiti, Torere, Manga-weka, Utiku, Kaheke, Table Flat, Umutoi, Utuwai, and Apiti.

III. South Ward, containing the Counties of Oroua, Kai-ranga, Manawatu, and all the schools situate therein, and also the following schools in the County of Pohangina : Komako, Awahou North, Awahou South, Pohangina, and Raumai.

WELLINGTON EDUCATION DISTRICT.

I. Wairarapa Ward, containing the Counties of Pahiatua, Akitio, Eketahuna, Mauriceville, Masterton, Castlepoint, Wairarapa South, and Featherston, and all the schools situate therein.

II. Hutt-Horowhenua Ward, containing the Counties of Horowhenua, Hutt, and Makara, and all the schools situated therein.

III. Marlborough Ward, containing the Counties of Sounds, Marlborough, and Awatere, and all the schools situated therein.

HAWKE'S BAY EDUCATION DISTRICT.

I. North Ward, containing the Counties of Waiapu, Waikahu, Cook, and Wairoa, and all the schools situated therein.

II. Middle Ward, containing the Counties of Hawke's Bay and Waipawa and all the schools situated therein, except the Takapau School, and containing also the Otane, Elsthorpe, Tamumu, and Omakere Schools in the Patangata County.

III. South Ward, containing the Counties of Woodville, Weber, Dannevirk, Waipukurau, and Patangata, and all the schools situated therein, except the schools named above in the Middle Ward, and containing also the Takapau School in the County of Waipawa.

NELSON EDUCATION DISTRICT.

I. East Ward, containing the Counties of Inangahua and Murchison, and all the schools situated therein, and also the following schools in the Waimea County : Hops, Ranzer, Brightwater, Waimea West, Spring Grove, Wakefield, Pigeon Valley, Eighty-eight Valley, Te Arowhenua, Gordon, Waiiti, Foxhill, Tophouse, Motupiko, Korere, Tapawera, Tadnor, Matariki, Upper Sherry, Tui, Kiwi, Glenhope, Rocky River, Ngatimoti, Orinoco, Pokororo, Dovedale, Baton, Stanley Brook, Upper Stanley Brook, Church Hill, and also Lyell in the Buller County.

II. North Ward, containing the Counties of Takaka and Collingwood, and all the schools situated therein, and also the following schools in the Waimea County : Whangarae, Wairangi, Tai Pari, Okiwi Bay, McLaren's Bay, Whangamoa, Happy Valley, Hillside, Clifton Terrace, Maitai Valley, Tahuna, Stoke, Richmond, Appleby, Redwood's Valley, Marahau, Riwaka, Brooklyn, Motueka, Lower Moutere, Sarau, Aporo, Mapua, Mahana, Neudorf, and Will's Road.

III. West Ward, containing the County of Buller and all the schools situated therein except Lyell.

CANTERBURY EDUCATION DISTRICT.

I. North-west Ward, containing the Counties of Westland, Grey, Amuri, Kaikoura, Cheviot, Waipara, Tawera, Oxford, Ashley, Kowai, and Rangiora, and all the schools situated therein.

II. Middle Ward, containing the Counties of Eyre, Waimaire, Paparua, Halswell, Heathcote, Springs, Ellesmere, Mount Herbert, Wairewa, Akaroa, and Malvern, and the Boroughs of Kaiapoi, Lyttelton, Sumner, and New Brighton, and all the schools situated therein.

III. South Ward, containing the Counties of Selwyn, Ashburton, Chatham Islands, Geraldine, Levels, Mackenzie, and Waimate, and all the schools situated therein.

OTAGO EDUCATION DISTRICT.

I. North Ward, containing the following schools : Airedale, Ardgowan, Awamoko, Dunback, Duntroon, Elderslie, Evansdale, Flagswamp, Goodwood, Hampden, Incholme, Inch Valley, Island Cliff, Kakanui, Karitane, Kartigi, Kauroo, Kia Ora, Kokoamo, Kurow, Livingstone, Maerewhenua, Maruakoa, Maheno, Merton, Moeraki, Mt. Cargill, Ngapara, Otekaike, Otepopo, Otiake, Oamaru Middle, Oamaru North, Oamaru South, Palmerston, Papakaio, Pleasant Valley, Port Chalmers, Pukeiwitahi, Pukeuri, Purakanui, Seacliff, Tapui, Teaneraki, Tokarahi, Totara, Waianakarua, Waihemo, Waikouaiti, Waitaki Bridge, Waitati, Weston, Wharekuri, and Windsor.

II. Central Ward, containing the following schools : Alexandra, Bald Hill, Bannockburn, Barewood, Beaumont, Bendigo, Berwick, Black's, Blackstone, Bluespur, Brighton, Broad Bay, Cambrians, Chatto Creek, Clark's Flat, Clyde, Clydevale, Coal Creek, Concord, Cromwell, Earnscleugh, Ettrick, Evan's Flat, Galloway, Gimmerburn, Green Island, Greenfield, Hawea, Heriot, Highcliff, Hill Springs, Hindon, Hooper's Inlet, Hyde, Ida Valley, Kokonga, Kyeburn,
