“Fruit-preserving works” means any fruit-packing shed, cold store for fruit, fruit-canning works, or other works used in connection with the packing, grading, or preservation of fruit.
- Clause 3 of the main regulations is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “proposed fruit-preserving works,” the words “or of an approved leasehold interest therein.”

Regulations under the National Provident Fund Act, 1910.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fourth day of January, 1916.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by the National Provident Fund Act, 1910, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations under and for the purposes of the said Act.

REGULATIONS.
SUPERANNUATION FOR EMPLOYEES OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES, COMPANIES, FIRMS, ETC.

THE application of the local authority to become a contributor shall be in Form 1 hereunder.

The special resolution to be passed by the local authority shall include any conditions imposed by the Board in terms of section 5.

The local authority shall notify the Superintendent of the fund when it ceases to be a contributor on behalf of any person.

The local authority shall advise the Superintendent of any increases or reductions in the salaries of persons in respect of whom the local authority is a contributor.

Any person on behalf of whom a local authority has ceased to be a contributor may apply in Form 3 to have any refund due credited to him as a contributor on his own behalf.

The entry of any persons employed on probation into the fund may be dated from entry into service when permanently appointed.

The local authority shall notify the Superintendent of any employee transferred to another local authority, giving name, date of transfer, and pension allowance.

Any application to count as continuous service any service other than is specified in the special resolution shall be made through the local authority to the Superintendent of the fund.

The local authority shall from time to time furnish the Superintendent with a list of the names of persons in its employ who are retiring and intend to claim on the fund. Such list shall be certified by the principal officer of the local authority and shall contain the following information: Name of person, identification number, rank, date of birth, date of entry into Service.

The local authority shall advise the Board with respect to contributors returned “medically unfit,” or who resign or are dismissed. The Board may require the local authority to furnish such proof of medical unfitness as it deems necessary.

With respect to persons who die from any cause before becoming claimants on the fund, the local authority shall, in addition to the foregoing particulars, furnish to the Superintendent a statement setting forth full and correct particulars of the family of such person, and showing the name of the widow and the name and date of birth of each child.

The local authority shall also report to the Superintendent all cases of persons totally or partially disabled by accident, and who have in consequence become medically unfit for further duty, and have received an allowance under the Workers’ Compensation for Accidents Act, 1900, and its amendments, stating the amount so paid to each person.

Should it be reported, or the Board have reason to believe, that any person who has been retired medically unfit is fit to resume duty, or should such person decline to go up for medical examination, then and in all such cases the Board shall immediately direct that all payments from the fund to such person shall cease until such time as he produces satisfactory medical proof of his unfitness for duty, and the Board shall then determine what forfeiture (if any) shall be made from the retiring-allowance.

Any person in the employ of a local authority who is a member of a registered friendly society may apply in Form 5 requesting his sick and funeral benefits due by the said society to be regarded as part benefits due under this Act in terms of section 15 thereof.

These regulations, mutatis mutandis, and so far as the same are applicable, may apply to any employer described as such in section 16 of the Act.
