Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks IX and XIII, Maketu Survey District, for Road Purposes.
NOTE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Blocks IX and XIII, Maketu Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Te Puke, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of land required to be taken :—
- 1 rood 18 perches, 2·6 perches, 0·1 perches, and 0·003 perches, portion of Whakauma No. 2A C.L.; Block IX. Coloured yellow on plan.
- 8 perches, portion of Section 2A; Block IX. Coloured blue on plan.
- 11 perches, portion of Section 2A; Blocks IX and XIII. Coloured blue on plan.
- 5 acres 3 roods 37 perches, portion of Section 2A; Block XIII. Coloured blue on plan.
Situated in Maketu Survey District (S.O. 18213).
In the Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 38634, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

License to take Toheroa at Kaipara, on the West Coast of the North Island.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the 8th day of March, 1915, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, of the 11th day of the same month, regulations were made as to the taking of toheroa for causing purposes on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand, providing, inter alia, that no person, firm, or company shall take toheroa for such purposes without a license in writing under the hand of the Minister of Marine, and subject to the said regulations:
And whereas, pursuant to clause 2 of the said regulations, the application of Alfred Ernest Harding (hereinafter called “the licensee”) to lease Area No. 2 as specified in the Second Schedule to the said regulations, and hereinafter defined, has been granted, and it is desirable to issue the necessary license to the licensee to take toheroa for canning purposes from the area mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, Robert McNab, Minister of Marine, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, do hereby license the licensee to take toheroa for canning purposes from the area hereinafter defined, and designated Area No. 2 in the Second Schedule to the said Order in Council, subject to the said regulations, for a period of ten years from the 1st day of February, 1916.
AREA.
Commencing at the northern boundary of Area No. 1, and extending northward to the southern boundary of Glink's Gap, Campers Reserve. As the said area is delineated on plan marked M.D. 4388, and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington, the boundary of the said area being marked by white painted posts bearing the words “Area No. 2.”

Applicants should possess qualifications equal to those of a public-school teacher.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the Educational Division. Salary £200, maximum £250, with £30 house allowance for non-resident teacher.

Notice to Mariners No. 11 of 1916.
DREDGING OPERATIONS IN OTAGO HARBOUR.
Marine Department, Wellington, N.Z., 8th February, 1916.
REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 7 of 1916, the Otago Harbour Board have notified that the lights and signals that will be shown on dredge “222” while working in the channel or lying at her moorings in the lower harbour will be as follows :—
On that side of the dredge on which vessels are to pass: During the daytime, one black ball.* At night-time, two red lights in a vertical line, one over the other 6 ft. apart, and the usual anchor lights, a white light forward and a white light at the stern.

NOTICE is hereby given that a surrender of the lease of the undermentioned land having been accepted by resolution of the Wellington Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
