In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the Te Awamutu Borough Council proposes to open and form a public street on Allotment 50 of the Village of Te Awamutu, otherwise known as the Te Taruna Block, and for the purposes of such street requires to take all that part of the said Allotment 50 or Te Taruna Block, containing 3 roods 11·7 perches (more or less), bounded towards the north-east by Church Mission land, 711·11 links, and by Allotment 19, 100 links; towards the south-east by the said Allotment 19, 103·05 links; towards the south-west by other part of the said Allotment 50, 834·85 links; and towards the north-west by a street, 100·07 links. As the same is delineated coloured pink on the plan hereinafter mentioned.

A plan of the land required to be taken as aforesaid is deposited for public inspection at the office of the Te Awamutu Borough Council at Te Awamutu.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-founded objections to the execution of the said works or the taking of the said land, and to send such writing, within forty days of the first publication of this notice, to the Te Awamutu Borough Council.

CARTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

AT a meeting held on the nineteenth day of September, 1916, the following resolution was carried:—

In pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other Acts and powers it in that behalf enabling, the Carterton Borough Council resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest and sinking fund and other charges on a loan of three thousand pounds (£3,000), authorized to be raised by the said Carterton Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of extending and adding to the gasworks plant and mains (new gasometer, extension of gas-mains, new service connections, &c.), and to repay to the general fund the sum or sums already expended (in anticipation of the said loan being raised) in laying gas-mains in Main Road South, Moreton Road, Brooklyn Road, Lincoln Road, Taylor Street, and Wyndham Street, the said Carterton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three-sixteenths of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the whole of the Borough of Carterton; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six (36) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the resolution passed by the Carterton Borough Council on the 19th day of September, 1916.
