Notice to Mariners No. 79 of 1916.
BUOY OFF TIRITIRI ISLAND MOVED.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 3rd October, 1916.
REFERRING to Notice No. 67, of 22nd August, 1916, it is now notified that the red buoy marking the Shearer Rock has been moved to a position 3½ cables S. 38° E. (magnetic) of Shearer Rock over a shoal recently discovered carrying only 25 ft. at L.W.S. There is a pinnacle close to the buoy carrying only 22 ft. at L.W.S.
Tiritiri Lighthouse bears from the buoy 277° (S. 82° W. magnetic) distant 1·2 miles.
As the bottom here is foul it is unlikely that the buoy will drag from its position.
Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Charts 1998, 3565, and 2543; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter ii, page 32.
