Crown Land near Wingatui set apart for the Purposes of the Chain Hills Magazine.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is Crown land, and is required to be set apart for the purposes of the Chain Hills Magazine:
And whereas by section twenty-one of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is enacted that whenever any Crown land is required to be set apart for any public work, the Governor may at any time, by Proclamation, set the same apart for such public work without complying with any of the provisions of that Act in respect of the taking or setting-apart of other lands for such purpose:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for the purposes of the said magazine; and I also hereby declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the twenty-first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land set apart: 16 acres 0 roods 17 perches.
Being Crown land, formerly portion of railway reserve.
Situated in Irregular Block, Taieri District, and Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri District.
In the Otago Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40910, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon edged red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this fourteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

Land taken for a Fire-brigade Station in the City of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under the Public Works Act, 1908, for a certain public work—to wit, for a fire-brigade station in the City of Wellington:
And whereas the Wellington City Council has laid before the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map in duplicate, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for a fire-brigade station, and shall vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Wellington on and after the date hereinafter mentioned; and I do also hereby declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the seventh day of October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land taken: 2 roods 12·94 perches.
Portion of Town Belt, Town of Wellington R.D. (City of Wellington), Block VII, Port Nicholson Survey District.
In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40143, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon edged red.

Adding an Office to the Administrative Division of the Public Service, under the Public Service Act, 1912.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this eleventh day of September, 1916.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection two of section eighteen of the Public Service Act, 1912, it is enacted that the Commissioner may, whenever it appears advantageous to the Public Service so to do, certify to the Governor that it is expedient to add any office to or to abolish any office from the Administrative Division of the Public Service of New Zealand; and the Governor in Council may, upon such certificate, add any office to the Administrative Division or abolish any office therein:
And whereas the Public Service Commissioner has certified to the Governor that it is expedient to add the office of Registrar of Friendly Societies and Superintendent, National Provident Fund, to the said Administrative Division:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby add the office of Registrar of Friendly Societies and Superintendent, National Provident Fund, to the said Administrative Division.

Additional Rules as to Life-saving Appliances for Ships.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this eighteenth day of September, 1916.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-seventh day of July, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 69, of the thirtieth day of the same month, rules were made as to life-saving appliances for ships: And whereas it is desirable to make additional rules:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred upon him by section one hundred and ninety-seven of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following additional rules as to life-saving appliances for ships; and doth order that they shall come and be in force on and after the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.
RULES.
LIFE-JACKETS.
- THE word “life-jacket” in these regulations is used in lieu of and in substitution for the word “lifebelt” in the aforesaid regulations of the 27th day of July, 1914, and
