VANCOUVER ISLAND.—VICTORIA HARBOUR.—SHOAL POINT.
—BUOY TO BE DISCONTINUED.—About 1st July, 1915, the red
spar buoy marking the edge of the shoal westward of Shoal
Point will be discontinued without further notice.
About this date the channel will be widened up to Shoal
Point lighted beacon, which will then mark the extremity of
the shoal.

EAST COAST.—COLBURNE PASSAGE.—BUOYS CHANGED.—
The two platform buoys, northern red, southern black, mark-
ing the channel in Colburne Passage, southward of Piers
Island, will be replaced, without further notice, by wooden
spar buoys, similarly coloured.
Approximate position of northern buoy : Lat. 48° 41′ 42″
N., long. 123° 25′ 24″ W.

OREGON.

COLUMBIA RIVER ENTRANCE.—GAS AND WHISTLE BUOY
ESTABLISHED.—BUOY DISCONTINUED.—On 2nd June, 1915,
South Channel gas and whistle buoy, showing, 16 ft. above
the water, an occulting white light of 390 candle-power every
second—thus, light 0·5 second, eclipsed 0·5 second—was estab-
lished in 5½ fathoms of water, on the bearings—
North Head Lighthouse .. .. .. 9° 30′
Cape Disappointment Lighthouse .. .. 34° 0′
Clatsop Spit, tank .. .. .. 97° 0′
On the same date Clatsop Spit Jetty buoy, painted in
horizontal stripes, was discontinued.

ing to observations made by the French cruiser “Montcalm,”
Hervey Islands are situated in (approximately) latitude 19°
18′ S., longitude 158° 57′ W., or about 13 miles westward of
their charted position.

Cape St. Lucia.—Alteration in Character of Light.
Position.—Lat. 28° 31′ S., long. 32° 24′ E.
New abridged description.—Lt. gp. fl. (2) ev. 10 secs., 371 ft.,
vis. 15 m.
Alteration.—The fixed white light has been replaced by a
group flashing white light showing two flashes every ten seconds,
thus : Flash, ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 8 secs.

(a.) 5·4 cables, 233° (S. 67° W. mag.) ; 4½ fathoms.
(b.) 4·7 cables, 233° (S. 67° W. mag.) ; 4½ fathoms.
(c.) 5·3 cables, 232° (S. 66° W. mag.) ; 5¼ fathoms.
(d.) 5·4 cables, 232° (S. 66° W. mag.) ; 5 fathoms.
Remarks.—The anchorage symbol, shown on the charts in
this locality, is to be expunged.
Variation.—14° W.

(a.) LIGHT.—Position : On the summit of the south-
eastern islet. Lat. 22° 43′ 7″ N., long. 113° 39′ 28″ E., on
Chart No. 1741. Abridged description : Lt. fl. ev. 4 secs.,
95 ft., vis. 15 m.
DETAILS.—Character : A flashing white light every four
seconds—thus, flash 0·4 sec., eclipse 3·6 secs. Elevation :
95 ft. Visibility : 15 miles. Order : 1st. Structure : White
brick tower, 58 ft. in height.
(b.) FOG-SIGNAL.—Description : A gun, giving one report
every thirty seconds.
Remarks.—The note “Lt. building” shown on the charts
against the above position is to be expunged.

Shaweishan.—Shoal reported Eastward of.
Position.—At a distance of 2½ miles, 87° (east mag.), from
Shaweishan Lighthouse. Lat. 31° 25½′ N., long. 122° 17¼′ E.
Depth.—3 fathoms.
Caution.—Mariners are warned to exercise caution when
navigating the entrance to Shaweishan (North) Channel,
owing to possible changes in depths.
Variation.—3° W.

RED SEA, EASTERN SHORE.

Isa Bay.—Shoal reported.
Position.—At a distance of about three miles north-westward
of Ras Kethib. Lat. 14° 57¼′ N., long. 42° 49′ E.
Depth.—4¼ fathoms (mud).
Note.—A note “Reported (1915)” is to be inserted on the
charts against this shoal.

Position.—On the north-west bastion of the fort. Lat.
16° 23′ 15″ N., long. 73° 22′ 22″ E., on Chart No. 59.
Abridged description.—Lt. occ., ev. 30 secs., 92 ft., vis. 15 m.
DETAILS.—Character : An occulting white light every thirty
seconds—thus, light 25 secs., eclipse 5 secs. Elevation : 92 ft.
Visibility : 15 miles. Order : 6th. Structure : White
masonry tower, 28 ft. in height.
Note.—This light has been temporarily replaced by a fixed
white light, and a note “Shows tempy. fixed” is to be
inserted against it on the charts.
