Authorizing the Laying-off of Puriri and Karaka Streets, in the Town of Helensville Extension No. 6, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Puriri and Karaka Streets, in the Town of Helensville Extension No. 6, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 65 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Hutt River District.

Wellington, 11th August, 1915.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, under section 4 of the River Boards Amendment Act, 1913, by the Hutt River Board, praying that the areas described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Hutt River District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN HUTT RIVER DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on high-water mark of Port Nicholson in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 19 in Block XII, Belmont Survey District; thence to and along that boundary to the southernmost corner of Section No. 78 in Block XIII, along the south-eastern boundary of that section and the north-eastern boundary of Original Section No. 79 to the western boundary of the Hutt River District as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 15th December, 1910, page 4205; thence along the boundary of the said Hutt River District to a point on high-water mark of Port Nicholson in line with the boundary between Original Sections Nos. 7 and 8, Block XIII aforesaid, and along the high-water mark of Port Nicholson to the place of commencement.

Also all that area bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Section No. 45 in Block X, Belmont Survey District; thence along the southern boundary of that section and the western boundary of Section No. 231 to Section No. 230, along the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 230, 439, and 440, Block X aforesaid, and the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 41 to its southernmost corner; and thence along the eastern boundary of the Hutt River District as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 15th December, 1910, page 4205, to Section No. 45 aforesaid, the place of commencement.

Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds by the Auckland City Council.—Notice No. 1790.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Auckland City Council has, by special order, declared bathurst burr, broom, fennel, giant burdock, gorse, and hakea to be noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, in the district under its jurisdiction.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ Shops in the Borough of Napier, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’ shops in the Borough of Napier, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, at 6 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 p.m.; excepting (1) the period from 15th December to 3rd January inclusive, and on the evening preceding the People’s Day at the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural Show, when the closing-hour shall be optional; and (2) that in the case of any shopkeeper whose shop is closed for the whole of any day which is generally observed as a public holiday by shops in the borough, the closing-hour on the preceding evening shall be optional: And whereas the Napier Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’ shops within the Borough of Napier:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 16th day of August, 1915, all hairdressers’ shops in the Borough of Napier shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

The notice gazetted on the 21st day of May, 1908, fixing the closing-hours of all such shops within the borough is hereby cancelled accordingly.

Dated at Wellington this 10th day of August, 1915.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1908, and its amendments, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 12th day of August, 1915.

PART III.—GOODS: REGULATIONS.

Insert—

REGULATION 46, DEPASTURING STARVING STOCK.

  1. Starving stock sent from the Canterbury district and from stations in the Otago district as far south as Palmerston to Otago and Southland certified on the outward journey as for depasturing owing to the drought will on return journey be conveyed free of charge from the original destination station to the original forwarding station, provided that no portion of the consignment has been sold, exchanged, or otherwise disposed of, provided—

(a.) That the consignment-note for the outward journey is indorsed with the following certificate: “I hereby certify that the stock entered hereon are bona fide starving stock, and that they are being sent for depasturing purposes only.”

(b.) On the return journey a declaration must be made in the following form:—

“I hereby certify that the stock entered on the consignment-note attached hereto were consigned from to for depasturing purposes only on , 1915, and are now being returned. I also certify that no portion of the stock has been sold, exchanged, or otherwise disposed of.”
