Scale Salaries for Native-school Teachers under the Education Act, 1914.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following scales for Native-school Teachers, to take effect from the 1st January, 1915.

(i.) In addition to the salary payable above, there shall be paid by way of salary the sum of £35 per annum in the case of every assistant teacher who is obliged to live away from home.
(ii.) A deduction of 10 per centum from the salary payable in accordance with the foregoing provisions shall be made in the case of every uncertificated head or sole teacher and in the case of every uncertificated assistant, and a deduction of 5 per centum in the case of every assistant or head or sole teacher who is the holder of a temporary certificate or license to teach; but if in any such case the said deduction would reduce the salary below £110 per annum no greater deduction shall be made than is sufficient to reduce the salary to £110.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 3rd February, 1915, for the position of Third-shift Engineer, Okere Falls Power-station, Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, Rotorua.

Applications must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

Applicants must not be more than forty years of age, and preference will be given to mechanical engineers with electrical training and experience in three-phase high-tension work.

The duties comprise taking shift in sole charge of power-station in rotation with other engineers, and on basis of six days or forty-eight hours per week, and assisting in maintaining the plant at all times in good order and repair for continuous running under the direction of the Senior Engineer. The system is that of three-phase, high-tension, alternating current. The plant at present consists of three low-pressure water-turbines, two of 100 h.p. and one of 180 h.p., with belt-driven generators of a total of 200 k.w. capacity, and is run continuously.

In the event of any emergency arising, the Engineer may be required to be on duty longer than implied in the previous paragraph.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division; salary, £160, with free use of a whare.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 2nd February, 1915, from officers of the Public Service, for the position of Accounts Clerk in the Public Service Superannuation Office.

Applications must be made on forms obtainable at this office.

It is an essential qualification that the applicant must have qualified as an accountant by examination.

Applicants must state clearly in their applications their present position, age, and salary.

Applications should in the first instance be sent through the Permanent Head of the Department.
The position will be graded in the Clerical Division, Class VI. Salary will be considered in connection with present salary.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the Clerical Division; salary, £120 per annum.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the Otago United Shipwrights’ Industrial Union of Workers, registered number 94, situated at Port Chalmers, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section 21 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, it is my intention to cancel the registration of that industrial union after the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.
