  1. That the composition of the phosphate averages not less than 50 per cent. of phosphate of lime (tricalcic phosphate); provided, however, that should a phosphate of a lower average composition be discovered, the committee may recommend that a portion of the bonus be granted.

  2. That the bonus shall only be paid to the first claimant who satisfies the above conditions.

The terms of payment shall be—

One-fifth on the committee reporting favourably of the discovery;

One-fifth on delivery of the first 200 tons to purchasers;

The remaining three-fifths by equal payments on delivery of each additional 150 tons to purchasers.

Applications, addressed to “The Secretary of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce,” will be received up to and including the 31st day of March, 1916.

Specimens of the rock may be seen at the office of any of this Department’s Fields Inspectors, and a leaflet descriptive of the phosphate, and showing how it may be roughly tested, may be obtained on application to these officers. A limited number of specimens of New Zealand phosphate rock are available for distribution to farmers, prospectors, and others interested, and will be sent free on application to the Chemist, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, Wellington.

Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds by the Waipu North Road Board.—Notice No. 1784.

I T is hereby notified for public information that the Waipu North Road Board has, by special order, declared the following plants to be noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, in the district under its jurisdiction :—

Burdock. Periwinkle.
Fennel. St. John’s Wort.
Foxglove. Thistles: Any species of Carlina (stemless thistle), Carduus (common plume or Scotch thistle), Cnicus (woolly-headed thistle), Centaurea (star thistle), Silybum (milk thistle).
Hemlock. Viper’s bugloss.
Kangaroo acacia. African boxthorn.
Lupin. Pennycress.
Ox-eye daisy.
Winged thistle.
Tutsan.
Wild borage.
Wild turnip.

FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Turanganui Riding of the county was taken on the 2nd day of June, 1915, on the proposal to raise a loan of £2,500 for the construction of bridges over the Turanganui and Waihora Streams.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 35. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 0.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
