HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, transfers, and resignations of the undermentioned officers of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, New Zealand Permanent Staff, and Territorial Force:—

The Regiment of Royal New Zealand Artillery.

Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel) John Edward Hume to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 9th November, 1914.

Permanent Staff.

Sergeant-Instructor Roland Martin Quinn to be Assistant Director of Supplies and Transport, Canterbury District, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant, and is attached to No. 7 Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps, while so employed. Dated 14th June, 1915.

New Zealand Field Artillery.

Captain Noel Percy Adams to be Major. Dated 17th February, 1914.

Lieutenant Douglas Wilson Brown to be Captain, vice Adams, promoted. Dated 17th February, 1914.

New Zealand Garrison Artillery.

2nd Lieutenant Leslie Victor Hulbert to be Lieutenant. Dated 16th January, 1915.

Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel) Alfred de Bathe Brandon is retired under the provisions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, 1913, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and with permission to wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 18th May, 1915.

6th (Hawraki) Regiment.

Sergeant William Raymond McCormick to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 29th May, 1915.

9th (Hawke’s Bay) Regiment.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists and Druggists’ Shops in the Takapau Riding of the Waipawa County, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and druggists’ shops in the Takapau Riding of the Waipawa County, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the riding shall be closed at 8 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 11 p.m. on Saturdays:

And whereas the Waipawa County Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of all the chemists and druggists’ shops within the Takapau Riding of the Waipawa County:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 28th day of June, 1915, all chemists and druggists’ shops in the Takapau Riding of the Waipawa County shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Dated at Wellington this 23rd day of June, 1915.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Takapau Riding of the Waipawa County, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the riding shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: 8 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 11 p.m. on Saturdays:

And whereas the Waipawa County Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Takapau Riding of the Waipawa County:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 28th day of June, 1915, all tobacconists’ shops within the Takapau Riding of the Waipawa County shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.
