A PPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 28th June, 1915, for the position of Dredgemaster and Overseer, Public Works Department, Waihou Dredge.

Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

The duties will comprise taking charge of and directing operations to be carried out in connection with the dredging of the Waihou River by means of a suction dredger, supervising the formation of stop-banks and river-diversions, removal of snags, &c., recording details of work done, and cost of same; also, if required, supervising the construction of stop-banks or other works by contract or otherwise which may not be immediately connected with the dredging.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £280 per annum.

The successful applicant will be required to take charge of the machinery as regards running, maintenance, and repairs, under the immediate direction of the dredgemaster, and also to take charge of the dredging in the absence of the dredgemaster. He will also be required to keep detailed accounts of the consumption of coal, stores, water, &c., and must hold a first-class stationary or marine certificate.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £250 per annum.

The duties are,—
(a.) Generally, to assist and advise the Director of Education in all matters of departmental concern, and to act on his behalf in any matters specially assigned to him by the Director.
(b.) In particular, to prepare departmental regulations on various subjects, to inspect and report upon Training Colleges for Teachers, to carry out such other inspection as may be required of institutions under the control of or subject to inspection by the Department; and, as may best be arranged, to take special charge of some branch of the Department’s work not unduly interfering with duties of a more general character.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the Professional Division. Salary, £750 per annum.
