Altitude, 1,000 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level. Fern and tutu country; generally undulating, but with a very broken rocky face running through section. Very light sandy pumice soil, on pumice formation; no water on section. Distant one mile from Hamurana and thirteen miles from Rotorua by good formed road.
Section 24, Block V: Area, 182 acres 0 roods 19 perches. Capital value, £185. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £4 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 14s.

Altitude, 1,300 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level. Rather broken land, covered with fern and tutu. Light pumice soil of fair quality, on pumice formation; well watered by springs and streams. Distant eight miles from Ngongotaha Railway-station by good formed road.
Ohinemuri County.—Piako Survey District.
Section 2, Block XII: Area, 347 acres 2 roods 13 perches. Capital value, £350. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £8 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £7.
Altitude, 200 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Fern and manuka country; part undulating, but mostly broken. Soil of second-class quality, on clay subsoil; fairly watered by Torehape Stream. Distant twenty-three miles from Ohinewai Railway-station by fair formed road. There is also a good road to Morrinsville, about thirty miles distant.
Rodney County.—Tauhoa Parish.
Section 137: Area, 200 acres 1 rood 8 perches. Capital value, £100. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2.
Section 138: Area, 237 acres 1 rood 17 perches. Capital value, £120. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £3. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 8s.
Section 140: Area, 175 acres. Capital value, £90. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 16s.
Altitude, 50 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, covered with fern and manuka scrub and a few bunches of flax, all of which has been recently burnt. Sections have been thoroughly worked for gum. Soil poor pipeclay, on slate formation; well watered by stream. Distant five miles from Tauhoa Post-office and eight miles from Hoteo Railway-station by good cart-road.
Section 211: Area, 123 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £65. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 6s.
Altitude, 50 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken and fern and manuka country, with a few acres of level in swampy gullies; section has been well dug over for gum. Soil poor pipeclay, on slate formation; well watered by swampy gullies. Distant four miles from Tauhoa Post-office and seven miles from Hoteo Railway-station by cart-road.
Hobson County.—Te Kuri Parish.
Section 12: Area, 95 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £50. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1.
Altitude, from sea-level to 75 ft. above sea-level. About 10 acres wiwi swamp, balance undulating fern and manuka country. Poor sandy soil, on sandstone formation; gum has been entirely worked out; well watered by swampy springs. Distant one mile from Tangaihi by track.
Whangaroa County.—Whangaroa Survey District.
Section 4, Block II: Area, 450 acres 1 rood 28 perches. Capital value, £225. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £5 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 10s.
Altitude, 200 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to hilly land, partly ploughable, covered with scrub and fern, except 10 acres of ordinary mixed forest containing some kauri. Soil inferior clay, on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams. Distant ten miles from Mangonui, four miles of which is by coach-road, balance partly formed sledge or bridle-track.

Opening Settlement Lands in Wellington Land District for Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the eighth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—HOROWHENUA COUNTY.—BARTHOLOMEW SETTLEMENT.
First-class Land.
Section 1: Area, 27 acres 1 rood 8 perches; capital value, £1,020; half-yearly rent, £22 19s.
Section 2: Area, 6 acres 1 rood 1 perch; capital value, £230; half-yearly rent, £5 3s. 6d.
Section 3: Area, 9 acres 1 rood 9 perches; capital value, £340; half-yearly rent, £7 13s.
Section 4: Area, 29 acres 3 roods 37 perches; capital value, £1,110; half-yearly rent, £24 19s. 6d.; interest and sinking fund, £30 0s. 7d.*
Section 5: Area, 12 acres 2 roods 3 perches; capital value, £430; half-yearly rent, £9 13s. 6d.
Section 6: Area, 12 acres 2 roods 12 perches; capital value, £430; half-yearly rent, £9 13s. 6d.
- Interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £770, payable in cash, or in twenty-one years by half-yearly instalments of £30 0s. 7d.; total half-yearly payment, £55 0s. 1d.
IMPROVEMENTS.
The improvements included in the values of the sections comprise: Section 1—about 62½ chains of boundary and internal fencing, pigsty, the whole valued at £86; Section 2—13½ chains of boundary fencing, valued at £5; Section 3—17½ chains of boundary fencing, valued at £7; Section 4—62¾ chains of boundary and internal fencing, plantation, windmill, trap-shed, the whole valued at £84; Section 5—27¼ chains of boundary and internal fencing, valued at £7; Section 6—21 chains of boundary fencing, valued at £11.
The improvements not included in the capital values of the sections, and which must be paid for separately, are as follows: Section 4—substantial thirteen-roomed dwelling-house, built of totara, with four brick chimneys, iron roof, water service throughout, windmill connection, wash-house (detached, with copper built in), stable, and attached cow-shed, the whole valued at £770.
