Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Invercargill, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL.

In the matter of a special loan of £28,000 proposed to be raised by the Council of the Borough of Invercargill under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and the amendments thereof.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 28th day of April, 1915, a proposal was submitted by the above-mentioned Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Invercargill for raising a special loan of £28,000 for the purpose of public works in and for the benefit of that part of the Borough of Invercargill commencing at the south-west corner of the Township of Harrisville, and bounded on the north by the Township of Harrisville, thence northward on the west by Kelvin Road, on the north by the north boundary of Victoria Park, on the east by Elles Road, on the south by Dalrymple Road, on the west by the New River Estuary to Forth Street, thence again on the north by Forth Street to Deveron Street, thence again on the west by Deveron Street to Gala Street, thence again on the south by Gala Street and a line in continuation thereof, and thence again on the west by the New River Estuary to the commencing-point—that is to say, for the acquiring of material for and the construction and laying of sanitary works, sewers, pipes, manholes and vent shafts, including all plant, labour, and material, for extending the now existing sewage system throughout the said area, and connecting such extensions with the present system. And that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 485; against the proposal, 249.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded at a poll of ratepayers taken on the 28th April, 1915, on the proposal to borrow £4,200 for asphalt paths and concrete channels was as follows: For the proposal, 45; against the proposal, 5; informal, 1: total, 51.

I hereby declare the proposal carried.
