Defining Riverton Restricted Limits.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 189 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Marine, do hereby define the Riverton limits within which restricted-limit steamships and ships propelled by gas, oil, fluid, electricity, or any mechanical power other than steam, and to which restricted-limit certificates are issued, may ply to be those set forth herein, and I do divide such limits into river and extended-river limits.
River Limits.—Inside the Bar of Jacobs River.
Extended-river Limits.—All the navigable water inside a right line drawn from the mouth of the Waimatuku Stream to a point one mile seaward of the outermost point of Pig Island, thence to the landing-place on the north-eastern side of Centre Island, and thence to Hinitui or Oraka Point.
All former river and extended-river limits for Riverton are hereby revoked.
As witness my hand, at Wellington, this 10th day of April, 1915.

Notice to Mariners No. 37 of 1915.
NOUMEA.—SOUNDINGS IN GRAND BAY.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 26th April, 1915.
THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the Government of New Caledonia, is published for the information of mariners and others:—
The commander of the “ Kersaint ” notifies that soundings made in the Grand Bay of Noumea have not found the depth of 4 meters shown on Chart No. 1939, about 850 meters N. 15° W. of the upper line of beacons of Nou Island (position bordering on L. 22° 16′ 22.5″, G. 164° 5′ 31″ E. of Paris), but on the contrary have discovered a sandbank on which the least depth found is from 4 m. 80 gr. to 720 meters N. 24° 10′ W. of the same line of beacons.
The zone in which are found depths of less than 10 meters around this point is about 120 meters in diameter. There is every reason to believe that this sandbank should be shown further north on the chart.
A second sandbank with a depth of 4 m. 80 cor. has been discovered 1,280 meters N. 11° 45′ W. of the same upper line of beacons of Nou Island. The zone in which are found depths of less than 10 meters around this point is about 60 metres in diameter.
The above information has been placed by the commander of the “ Kersaint ” on the chart of the port authorities, where mariners and pilots may consult it.
GEORGE ALLPORT,
Secretary.
