A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Council of the Borough of Napier and the Board of the Town District of Napier South, by petitions under the respective common seals of the Corporations of such borough and town district, as provided by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, as amended by the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, have prayed the Governor that such borough and town district (forming one continuous area) be constituted one united borough:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, do hereby proclaim that the said Borough of Napier and the said Town District of Napier South are hereby constituted one united borough by the name of the Borough of Napier, and also that the boundaries of the said borough so constituted and named shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto; and I do also proclaim and declare that the said borough shall be an undivided borough, and that the number of Councillors to be elected to the Council thereof shall be eleven, exclusive of the Mayor; and I do hereby appoint William Murray (the Town Clerk to the existing Borough of Napier) to be the Town Clerk and Arthur Ward Lascelles to be the Returning Officer temporarily of the said united borough; and I do also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and from the thirteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.
SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF NAPIER.
COMMENCING at a point on the high-water mark of the ocean where the south boundary of Section 586 of the Town of Napier intersects the same when produced, thence generally westwardly bounded by the said production and by the south boundary of Section 586 aforesaid, by the crossing of Hastings Street, by the south boundary of Section 225 and of Section 226, by a line crossing George's Drive at right angles, by the south-western side of George's Drive in a straight line to its intersection with the boundary of the Borough of Napier as described in the New Zealand Gazette for 16th June, 1881, on page 750, and by the same line produced to the high-water mark; thence by the high-water mark of the lagoon to a point opposite Pandora Point; thence in a straight line to a point on the high-water mark opposite the beacon on the most westerly point of Maori Island; thence by the high-water mark to a point at which the eastern mole crosses the high-water mark of the ocean, and towards the north and east by the high-water mark of the ocean to the point of commencement.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty's Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this thirteenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.
