The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908.—Notice of Cancellation of Registry.

NOTICE is hereby given that the registration of the Otago United Shipwrights’ Industrial Union of Workers, registered number 94, situated at Port Chalmers, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Application for Avoidance or Suspension of Trade-mark.—Trade-marks (Temporary) Regulations, 1914.

NOTICE is hereby given that Herbert Albert Reeves, of 15 Elm Street, London, W.C., England, on behalf of Pearson’s Antiseptic Company (Limited), of the same address, has lodged an application for the avoidance or suspension of Trade-mark No. 6182-5419, bearing date the 15th day of September, 1906, consisting of the word “Lysol,” and registered in Class 2 for disinfectants.

Any person interested who desires to be heard in opposition to the above-mentioned application should give notice in writing, addressed to the Registrar of Trade-marks, Wellington, the date by which such notice may be lodged to be hereafter fixed and advertised.

Education Act, 1914.—Elections of Members of the General Council of Education.

Wellington, 16th March, 1915.

ELECTIONS of members of the General Council of Education will be held on the 10th May, 1915. The poll will close at 5 o’clock on that day. Ten members are to be elected by the following eight classes of electors: Two members by the members of the Education Boards in the North Island, and two members by the members of the Education Boards in the South Island; one member by certified male teachers of public schools in the North Island, and one member by certified male teachers in the South Island; one member by male teachers in secondary and technical schools; one member by certified women teachers of public schools in the North Island, and one member by certified women teachers of public schools in the South Island; one member by the women teachers of secondary and technical schools.

Nominations will be received by the Returning Officer up till 5 p.m. on the 20th April, 1915, in the form prescribed by regulation dated 27th February, 1915. No person shall be eligible for election unless he is nominated by at least two electors entitled to vote for his election. For every election the rolls shall be closed on 20th April, 1915, and shall remain closed until the election is completed. Ballot-papers will be posted to each elector entitled to vote, containing a list of all the duly nominated candidates for such election.

Notification of the Number of Votes recorded in respect of National Prohibition at the Licensing Poll taken on the 10th December, 1914, and of the Result thereof.

IN pursuance of the provisions of section 16 of the Licensing Amendment Act, 1910, I, Alexander Lawrence Herdman, the Minister of Justice, do hereby notify that the total number of votes recorded throughout New Zealand in favour of national prohibition was 247,217.

And I do further notify that the total number of votes recorded throughout New Zealand in respect of the proposals submitted under section 15 of the said Act was as under, viz. :

For National Continuance .. .. 257,442
For National Prohibition .. .. 247,227

As the total number of votes recorded for national prohibition was less than three-fifths of the total number of the votes recorded throughout New Zealand in respect of the proposals submitted under section 15 of the said Act, I hereby notify that the result of the poll is for national continuance.
