Plumbers Registration Act, 1912.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint

JAMES SANDILANDS DOUGLAS,

a Master Plumber, to be a member of the Plumbers’ Board of New Zealand, under the provisions of the Plumbers Registration Act, 1912, in the place of Alexander Burt, jun., resigned, and for the residue of the period during which the said vacating member would have held this office.

The appointment dates from the 17th day of December, 1914.

Cancellation of License of Manufacturing Warehouse.

IN exercise of the authority vested in me by the Customs Act, 1913, for this purpose, I, the Minister of Customs, hereby give notice that the license of the undermentioned manufacturing warehouse is cancelled, such cancellation to have effect on and from the 15th December, 1914, namely:—

as appointed and described in Minister’s Order No. 646, of the 21st day of October, 1900.

  1. APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 29th January, 1915, for the position of Orchard Instructor, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, Hamilton.

  2. Applications must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  3. Applicants must possess—
    (a.) A practical knowledge of the laying-out of orchards, approved methods of cultivation, pruning, preparation and application of the various spraying compounds necessary for the control of orchard pests and diseases, and up-to-date methods of grading and packing fruit.
    (b.) A sound knowledge of the principal insect pests and fungus diseases attacking orchards, and the life histories of such pests and diseases.
    (c.) A thorough acquaintance with the suitability of soils for fruit generally, and the use of fertilizers.
    (d.) Ability to impart instruction by lectures, demonstrations, and correspondence.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the General Division; salary to commence, £170 per annum.

  3. Applicants must have served an apprenticeship as a fitter, and have had at least five years’ subsequent experience of mechanical engineering, boiler or steel-girder construction.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the General Division; salary, £220 per annum.

BY Order in Council, made and issued by His Excellency the Governor in Council on the 27th day of October ultimo under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the respective duties by way of income-tax, leviable under the said Act, should be paid in one sum on Friday, the 29th day of January, 1915, at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings, Wellington; and, in accordance with such Order in Council, I hereby give notice that the said duties will be payable accordingly.
