the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1913.
NOTICE is hereby given that, no person having taken
out probate, the Public Trustee has filed in the office
of the Supreme Court at Wellington an election to administer
the estate of the following deceased testate persons whose
names and residences and occupations (so far as are known)

Valuation Department, Nelson and Westland Districts.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up
till noon on the 5th January, 1916, for the position of
District Valuer, Valuation Department, Nelson and Westland
Districts.
2. Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the
Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington,
and must embrace a statement of education and experience,
particulars of age, &c.
3. Applicants should possess-
(1.) A practical experience of farming and of valuing
improvements effected on land, and be competent
to estimate the producing-capacity of different
classes of land, the values of live-stock, and the
values of all improvements effected on land;
(2.) A knowledge of land values in Nelson and Westland
Districts;
(3.) A working knowledge of the principles and practice
governing the valuation of land under the New
Zealand Valuation of Land Act, 1908, and its
amendments.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the
Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division. Commencing salary, £275 per annum; maximum salary, £370
per annum.

Coleridge -Christchurch High-tension Transmission-line,
Public Works Department.
Office of Public Service Commissioner,
Wellington, 10th December, 1915.
APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up
till noon on the 28th December, 1915, for the position
of Lineman, Lake Coleridge -Christchurch High-tension
Transmission-line, Public Works Department.
2. Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the
Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington,
and must embrace a statement of education and experience,
particulars of age, &c.
3. Applicants must submit credentials of experience in the
construction and maintenance of extra-high-tension overhead
lines.
4. The successful applicant will be responsible to the
Power-house Superintendent at Lake Coleridge. He will be
required to patrol and maintain about sixty-five miles of
66,000-volt transmission-line, repair breakdowns, erect and
repair other lines, and carry out any other work as directed
by the Power-house Superintendent.
5. He will be required to be available for duty at any hour
of the day or night, including holidays and Sundays, and
must work whatever hours are required.
6. Means of transport will be provided by the Department,
and no travelling-allowance or board and lodging expenses
will be paid when on ordinary patrol work. On breakdown
work an allowance of 3s. per night will be paid when required
to be away from home.
7. Accommodation will be provided in the form of a cottage
at Lake Coleridge or elsewhere, for which a rental of 6s. to
10s. per week will be charged according to the accommodation
provided.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the
Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary,
£208 per annum.

till noon on the 30th December, 1915, for the position
of Group Clerks, Defence Department, Whangarei and
Hamilton.
2. Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the
Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington,
and must embrace a statement of education and experience,
particulars of age, &c.
3. Applicants should be competent typists.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the
Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the Clerical Division.
Salary, £120. Preference will be given to discharged members
of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force with necessary
qualifications. Married men will be paid a minimum salary
of £140 per annum.

Land and Income Tax Office,

BY Order in Council made and issued by His Excellency
the Governor in Council on the 11th day of October,
1915, under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the respective duties by way of income-tax
leviable under the said Act should be paid in one sum on
Friday, the 14th day of January, 1916, at the office of the
Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings, Wellington;
and in accordance with such Order in Council I hereby give
notice that the said duties will be payable accordingly.
