Opening Settlement Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twentieth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—WAIPARA COUNTY.—TEVIOTDALE SURVEY DISTRICT.—GLENMARK SETTLEMENT.
First-class Land.
SECTION 24, Block I, Teviotdale Survey District: Area, 411 acres 1 rood 8 perches; capital value, £5,120; half-yearly rental, £115 4s.
Mostly rolling downs, suitable for sheep, cattle, or dairying, and a large portion could be ploughed for rape or turnips. The soil on the hills is rich loam on limestone, on the flats it is light and stony. Altitude, 180 ft. to 500 ft. Well watered by the Omihi and Homestead Streams. A mile and a quarter from Waipara Railway-station by good formed road. An unrestricted right of drainage from the freezing-works is reserved through this section, from the freezing-works site to the Omihi River. The improvements which go with the land are 232 chains of fencing, valued at £55 17s. 6d.

Opening Land in Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, that is to say:—

The rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for disposal by way of sale or selection on Monday, the twentieth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, at the respective prices specified in the said Schedule, and shall be deemed to be “light-bush land.”

The said land may be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease.

After the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for a period of three years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board shall think fit.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—WAIMARINO COUNTY.—WHIRINAKI SURVEY DISTRICT.—WAIPAPA BLOCK.
Second-class Light-bush Land.
(Exempt from Rent for Three Years.)
SECTION 6, Block VII: Area, 498 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £930. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £23 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £18 12s.
Situated in the Waipapa Block. Access from Raetihi, about twenty-eight miles distant by a formed road, partly dray-road and partly bridle-track; also by road to Wanganui River under construction. Rough and broken land, with a few flats. Soil of light character, on sandstone formation. The forest is light to medium, comprising tawa, rata, tawhero on ridges, with a few rimus and matais, and undergrowth of usual kind; watered by streams. Elevation about 1,000 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.
Section 1, Block VI: Area, 574 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £1,000. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £25. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £20.
Situated in the Waipapa Block. Access from Raetihi, about twenty-eight miles distant by formed road, partly dray-road and partly bridle-track. Rough and broken, with a few patches of flat or easy country. Soil of light character, on sandstone formation. Forest light to medium, and comprises tawa, rata, tawhero, &c., with usual undergrowth; watered by streams.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twentieth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—MAURICEVILLE COUNTY.—TARARUA SURVEY DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Kaiparoro Block.—National Endowment.
SECTION 1, Block XIII: Area, 300 acres; capital value £300; half-yearly rent, £6.
Situated on the Kaiparoro Road. Access from Mangamahoe Railway-station about nine miles distant—by six miles of metalled road, two miles of formed road, and remainder bridle-track. Comprises steep, hilly land. Soil of inferior clayey nature, on rotten-rock formation. The forest consists of birch, rata, tawa, rewarewa, &c. Well watered by permanent streams. Elevation about 700 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements comprised about 70 acres felled and grassed, now much overgrown, and regarded as of no value.
