Notifying Land in the Otago Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Maraeeweka Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from 31st July, 1915.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,801 acres 0 roods 22 perches, more or less, being Sections 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 29, 36, 64, and part Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 12, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 58, 59, and 60, Block I, Kauroo District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point in Section 25, Block I, Kauroo District, bearing 332° 7′, distance 672·2 links from Trig. The Geneva Convention Act, 1911 (Imperial).—Authority given to Mrs. Emilia Dutton, of Dunedin, to use Trade-mark “Red Cross” on an Ointment for Business Purposes within New Zealand up to 31st December, 1916.

PURSUANT to the powers conferred upon me by an Order in Council made at the Court at Buckingham Palace dated the 12th day of August, 1913, made pursuant to the Geneva Convention Act, 1911 (Imperial), I, James Allen, Minister of Defence of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the use of the trade-mark “Red Cross” for an ointment by Emilia Dutton, widow of the late Peter Dutton, for a period expiring on the 31st day of December, 1916, but no longer, provided that such ointment is not sold by the said Emilia Dutton or any other person beyond New Zealand. If the trade-mark is used for ointment sold beyond New Zealand, then this authority will be revocable by me at any time.

Establishment of a Government Industrial School.
Education Department,
Wellington, 27th October, 1915.
BY virtue of the power vested in me by section 4 of the Industrial Schools Act, 1908, I, Josiah Alfred Hanan, the Minister of Education, do hereby notify that I have established at 161 Hardy Street, Nelson, a Government Industrial School, under the name of the Receiving Home, Nelson.
The establishment of the said school is to date from 1st August, 1915.

BY-LAWS.
BY-LAWS FOR CONDUCT OF BUSINESS AND PROCEEDINGS AT THE MEETINGS OF THE NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BOARD AND OF COMMITTEES APPOINTED BY IT (FIRE BRIGADES ACT, 1908).
Offices of the Board.
- THE offices of the New Plymouth Fire Board shall be at the Secretary’s Office, Devon Street, situate in the Borough of New Plymouth, or at such other place as may from time to time be determined by the Board.
Board to meet.
- Subject to section 36 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, the Board may meet for the despatch of business on the third Friday in the last month of each quarter, but may adjourn and regulate its meetings as it thinks fit, or when summoned by direction of the Chairman or two members.
Notice of Meetings.
- Three clear days’ notice of the meetings of the Board shall be sent to every member. Any notice posted to or delivered at the address of any member shall be deemed to have been given or sent to such member on the day on which it was posted or delivered.
Commencement of Business.
- The Board shall commence business as soon after the time stated in the notice as there is a sufficient number of members in attendance to form a quorum, but if at the expiry of fifteen minutes from the time specified in the notice there is not a quorum present no business shall be transacted by the Board at that meeting, and such circumstance, together with the names of the members present, shall be recorded in the minute-book.
Appointment of Committee.
- The Board may appoint any committee for any purpose, and the Chairman of the Board shall be chairman of such committee, the majority of such committee to form a quorum. In the absence of the Chairman the committee may appoint its own chairman. Committees so elected not to have power to commit the Board to anything unless specially granted power to do so.
Report of Proceedings of Committee.
- Minutes of all proceedings of committees shall be entered in the minute-book (and being signed by the chairman of the committee shall be presented to the Board), and a report of the proceedings of any committee shall be presented to the Board at the first meeting of the Board subsequent to the meeting of such committee.
Meetings of Committees.
- All committees appointed by the Board shall meet within thirty days of their first appointment, or any time thereafter by order of the Board, or on the written order of the chairman of any committee or of any two members of any committee.
Secretary.
- The Secretary, or other officer acting in his stead, shall attend at all meetings of the Board or committees of the same, and shall enter the minutes of resolutions and proceedings in a minute-book to be kept for that purpose. He shall keep
