Applications invited for the Position of Seventh Engineer,
Public Works Department, Lake Coleridge Electric-power
Station.

Office of Public Service Commissioner,
Wellington, 9th October, 1915.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up
till noon on the 30th October, 1915, for the position
of Seventh Engineer, Public Works Department, Lake
Coleridge Electric-power Station.

  1. Applications (to be made on form P.S.C. 17A, obtainable
    at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary
    to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must
    embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars
    of age, &c.

  2. Normal duty will consist of shift-work for six shifts per
    week of eight hours each; but, in case of breakdown or

similar contingency, additional time must be worked as
required to deal with the emergency.

  1. The power-house engineers will be responsible to the
    Power-house Superintendent at Lake Coleridge.

  2. Applicants must have served an apprenticeship as
    mechanical or mechanical and electrical engineer; and should
    state fully what experience they have had in operation of
    large turbines, alternators, and extra-high-tension switch-
    boards.

  3. Cottages are available at Lake Coleridge at rents rang-
    ing from 10s. to 6s. per week, including electric lighting,
    according to the accommodation provided.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the
Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the General Division.
Salary Β£180, maximum Β£200, per annum.

The excess of the arrivals in New Zealand over the departures therefrom during the month of September, 1915, was
therefore 369 persons, as against 753 in the corresponding month of 1914.
