Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 28th September, 1915.

NOTICE is hereby given that on and after Monday, 11th October, 1915, the port light at Karamea will only be lighted when a steamer is due to arrive. The training-wall has been extended 160 ft., and a channel is now making only slightly to the northward of the end of the training-wall. The Harbourmaster’s instructions now are to enter on the red beacon till the wharf lights on the Government wharf are in line; they will lead to the end of the training-wall; steer along the wall for 200 ft., then cross over into the line of Government wharf lights if going to that wharf, or along wall to Stratford’s wharf.

The spit west of the end of the wharf is plainly visible at high water, and the wall is a guide to the east.

Strangers should not enter at night, as the beacons and lights are changed frequently.

Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Charts Nos. 2616 and 1212; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter x, page 330.
