Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Retail Grocers’ Shops in the City of Wellington, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the retail grocers’ shops in the City of Wellington, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 7 p.m., and Friday, 10 p.m.; 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve:

And whereas the Wellington City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the retail grocers’ shops within the City of Wellington:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 20th day of September, 1915, all retail grocers’ shops in the City of Wellington shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops in the City of Dunedin, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops in the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. for the statutory weekly half-holiday under sections 11 and 18 (b), Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, 5.30 p.m.; Saturdays, 6 p.m.: Provided that (1) in the case of any shopkeeper whose shop is closed on Saturday for the statutory half-holiday the hour of closing on the preceding day (Friday) shall be 9 p.m., and (2) on the day immediately preceding any day which is generally observed as a public holiday in the city the closing-hour shall be 6 p.m.; excepting that on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and the Thursday before Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.:

And whereas the Dunedin City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops within the City of Dunedin:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 20th day of September, 1915, all butchers’ shops in the City of Dunedin shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1908, and its amendments, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 19th day of September, 1915.

PART I.—PASSENGERS.
GENERAL FARES AND REGULATIONS.

CANCEL— Holiday Excursion Tickets.

  1. After public notification in each case, return excursion tickets may be issued on the New Zealand Government railways on such holidays and special occasions, and available for return for such period, as may be arranged for by the Department

Fares:—
First class .. 2d. per mile; minimum charge, 4s.
Second class .. 1d. ,, ,, 2s.

The mileage will be counted one way only.

Tickets at the above rates will only be issued at the option of the Railway Department.

The journey must be commenced on the date that ticket is taken out, and completed on or before the date on which the ticket expires, and may be broken at any station where the train is timed to stop after travelling 25 miles from the original starting-station, provided the specified time for which the tickets are available is not exceeded.

Holiday excursion tickets may be issued to jockeys and trainers travelling in charge of racehorses en route to race meetings, and to exhibitors or attendants in charge of exhibits en route to shows, one week earlier than the dates upon
