Caution.—H.M. Government have authorized a mine-laying policy in certain areas, and a system of mine-fields has been established and is being developed upon a considerable scale. It is dangerous henceforth for ships to cross the area between the parallels of 51° 15′ and 51° 40′ north latitude and the meridians of 1° 35′ and 3° east longitude. The southern limit of the area in the North Sea in which mines have been laid by the enemy is, so far as is known at present, the fifty-second parallel of north latitude.
