The total births in the four chief cities and their suburban boroughs amounted to 601, against 608 in June-a decrease of 7. The deaths in July were 304-an increase of 46 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 172, females 132. Fifty-eight of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 19.08 per cent. of the whole number; 44 of these were under one year of age.
There were 114 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards in the four chief cities and their suburban boroughs, as against 90 in June. The following table shows the classification:-
