Opening Settlement Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-seventh day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Otamatea County.—Matakohe Survey District.—Bickerstaffe Settlement.

SECTION 18, Block XVI: Area, 410 acres; capital value, £1,650; half-yearly rent, £37 2s. 6d.
This section contains a building valued at £75, which may be paid for in cash or by ten half-yearly instalments of £8 13s. 3d. (interest and sinking fund). Total half-yearly payment, £45 15s. 9d.

Undulating land; about 12 acres grass, 60 acres fern, balance manuka scrub, &c. Inferior clay soil, with limestone outcrops in places; well watered by small stream. Distant three miles from Whakapirau by metalled road.

Matamata County.—Patetere North-east Survey District.—Selwyn Settlement.

Lot 1, Section 75, Block I: Area, 858 acres; capital value, £1,800; half-yearly rent, £40 10s.
Weighted with £812, valuation for improvements comprising five-roomed house, stable and cow-shed, grassing and crop as below, 120 chains fencing, hydraulic ram, and 1,000 ft. piping.
Altitude, 600 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land; 6 acres in turnips, 92 acres grass, 260 acres fern, balance mixed forest comprising rimu, rata, tawa, &c., with dense undergrowth of supplejack and ferns. Soil light loam of medium quality; not well watered. Distant eleven miles from Okoroire Railway-station by formed cart-road.

Lands permanently reserved.

LIVERPOOL, Governor

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
And whereas by the three-hundred-and-twenty-second section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said three-hundred-and-twenty-first section may, at the expiration of one month but not later than six months after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:
And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:
And whereas the lands specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto were, by the Warrants the dates of which are specified in the third column of the said Schedule, and the notifications of which were published in the Gazettes specified in the fourth column, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Acts for the purposes specified in the second column of the said Schedule:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby permanently reserve the lands so temporarily reserved as aforesaid, and enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto, for the purposes specified in the second column of the said Schedule, being the same purposes for which the said lands were so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.
