  1. APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 14th July, 1914, from officers of the Public Service for the position of Chief Clerk, Justice Department, Wellington.

  2. Applications must be made on forms obtainable from the Permanent Head of the Justice Department or from this office.

  3. The position will be graded in Class IV, Clerical Division. Maximum, £370.

Public Service Stores Tender Board.—Supply and Delivery of Ironbark Poles.

Wellington, 23rd June, 1914.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Chairman (Government Printing Office) not later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the 21st July, 1914, for the supply and delivery, C.I.F. and E., Wellington, of the undermentioned poles:—

■ 1,000 poles, ironbark, square hewn, 25 ft., 7 in. x 5 in.
■ 2,000 poles, ironbark, square hewn, 25 ft., 8 in. x 6 in.
■ 200 poles, ironbark, square hewn, 25 ft., 9 in. x 7 in.

Tenders must be addressed to the Chairman, Public Service Stores Tender Board, Wellington. Delivery of the poles is to be made as shown in the Conditions of Tender, and the successful tenderer will be required to give security in the sum of £200 for the due performance of the contract. Particulars and conditions of tendering and specifications may be obtained at the office of the Controller of Stores, Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington; the District Storekeeper, Post and Telegraph Department, Christchurch; or the Telegraph Engineers at Auckland and Dunedin. A deposit of £25 must accompany each tender.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Tenders for Mail Steam Service to Chatham Islands.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 18th June, 1914.

TENDERS will be received at this office until noon on Wednesday, the 22nd July, 1914, for the conveyance of mails once every two months, by steamer, to and from the Chatham Islands, calling at such places, inclusive of Pitt Island, in the Group as may be determined upon by the Postmaster-General, for three years from the 1st September, 1914, with Lyttelton or Wellington as the port of departure and the port of arrival.


Tenders, which must state the maximum passenger-fares and freight-charges proposed to be levied to and from the Chatham Islands, are to be indorsed “Tenders for Chatham Islands Mail-service,” and addressed to the Secretary, G.P.O., Wellington.

Names, tonnage, and horse-power of steamers proposed to be used to be stated.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

The Establishment of a District Branch Office of the Public Trustee at Masterton.

Chennells as Agent, a branch of that office has been established there, under the control of Mr. Thomas Richard Allen as District Manager, from the 1st July, 1914.
