I, BERTRAM HAZELWOOD GILMOUR, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, New Zealand, 1914, now residing in Clyde, Otago, hereby give notice that I intend applying on the 7th day of June, 1914, next to have my name placed on the Medical Register of the Dominion of New Zealand, and that I have deposited the evidence of my qualification in the office of the Registrar of Births and Deaths at Dunedin.

In the matter of a Bill to be intituled “An Act to amend the Methodist Charitable and Educational Trusts Act, 1911.”

NOTICE is hereby given that application is intended to be made to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the ensuing session for leave to bring in a Bill to be intituled “An Act to amend the Methodist Charitable and Educational Trusts Act, 1911,” and that the objects of such Bill will be to amend the Methodist Charitable and Educational Trusts Act, 1911 (hereinafter termed “the principal Act”), as hereinafter set forth, that is to say :—

  1. To provide that the Conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand shall decide as to the sufficiency of the funds available for the purposes of the exercise by the Board of the Wesley Training College (constituted under the principal Act) of its powers under section 25 of the principal Act.

  2. To empower the Board, as an additional power to that contained in the proviso to section 28 of the principal Act, to expend the proceeds of the sale of lands in making permanent improvements to land held on the same trusts as the lands sold; and further to provide that the power to sell under the provisions of section 28 shall be deemed a power to sell for cash or on terms.

  3. To empower the Board (subject to the approval of the Conference)—
    (a.) To borrow money, and mortgage any part or parts of its lands as security therefor.
    (b.) To exchange any part of its lands for other freehold land to be held on the same trusts.
    (c.) To lease its land for any term not exceeding twenty-one years, or for any term not exceeding sixty years if leased for building purposes.

Any money borrowed is to be expended only in paying the purchase-money of or effecting permanent improvements to the land mortgaged or other land held on the same trusts, or in paying off any mortgage, and any money received by way of equality of exchange is to be expended in the manner provided for the disposal of proceeds of any sale.

  1. To provide that the consent of the Conference, where required by the provisions of the principal Act or the amending Act, shall be sufficient if given by the Conference or by any person, body, or committee authorized by the Conference.

  2. To provide that it shall not be incumbent on any purchaser, vendor, or mortgagee or lessee to inquire as to the power of the Board to exercise the powers of purchase, sale, exchange, mortgage, or lease, or as to the application of any moneys received by the Board in connection with any such sale, mortgage, or exchange.

  3. To empower the Board to lease to the Mt. Roskill Road Board and the Mount Roskill Road Board to take a lease for a period of fifty years at a nominal rent of a piece of land containing 12 acres 2 roods 12 perches, as shown on plan Number 17687 in the Survey Office at Auckland, in the vicinity of the Waikowhai Park, and to be used in connection with the said park, and held subject, mutatis mutandis, to the provisions of the Waikowhai Park Act, 1911.

And notice is hereby given that copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the Examiner’s office within fourteen days after the commencement of the session.

NOTICE OF CHANGE OF SURNAME.

I, LESLIE COSSEY OMAN, heretofore called and known by the name of LESLIE COSSEY, do hereby give notice that I have formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said surname of “Cossey,” and have assumed and adopted and determined henceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of “Oman,” instead of the said name of “Cossey”; and that by deed-poll dated this day, and intended to be forthwith enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the surname of “Cossey,” and declared that I had assumed and adopted and intended thenceforth upon all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of “Oman” instead of “Cossey,” and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known, and described by the name of “OMAN” exclusively.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and their amendments, the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1897, the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1899, the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1908, and the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1913.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work, namely, the widening of Manners Street in the City of Wellington; and for the purpose of such public work the pieces of land described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. Subject as to the piece of land first described in the Schedule hereto to Memorandum of Lease registered No. 9722, which is now vested in Jeremiah O’Meara, of Wellington, Hotel-keeper, and granted for a period of five years from 15th March, 1912. And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and is there open for inspection without fee by all persons during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of such land should, if they have well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forth days from the first publication of this notice, to the Wellington City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at his said office.
