III. Danger-signals.—(1.) By day a cone, apex downwards, or by night a red light vertically above a white light, indicates that a cyclonic storm (probably of slight to moderate intensity) may affect the port, and that its centre will probably pass considerably to the southward of the port in a westerly direction.
(2.) By day a cone, apex upwards, and by night a red light vertically below a white light, indicates that a cyclonic storm (probably of slight to moderate intensity) may affect the port, and that its centre will probably cross considerably to the north-east of Aden.
(3.) By day a drum, and by night two red lights in a vertical line, indicates that a cyclonic storm (probably of slight to moderate intensity) will probably cross the coast over or near the port.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—WESTERN TIDE-DEFLECTOR.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that a number of piles have been driven in the proposed line of the western tide-deflector, north of Freeman’s Bay reclamation. (See Notice 134 of 1913.) The outer or northernmost of these piles has been lighted by a red light over a bright white light. The height of the white light is 5 ft. above H.W.S.T., and the distance between the lights is 4 ft. The position of the outer beacon is as follows:—
Centre of end of O’Neill’s Point Wharf (Onepoto Point), 22° (N. 7° E. mag.).
Trig. Station, Stokes Point, 317° (N. 58° W. mag.).
Masters of vessels are warned to pass to the north of this beacon.

Notice to Mariners No. 39 of 1914.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—GRIDIRON, JULIAN’S WALL.

Wellington, N.Z., 7th April, 1914.
THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that a gridiron alongside Julian’s Wall (east of Freeman’s Bay reclamation) has been erected. The northernmost end of this gridiron is 820 ft. from the N.E. corner of the Freeman’s Bay reclamation, and it extends 160 ft. to the south. The depth of water on the gridiron at H.W.S.T. is 6 ft. at the south end and 8 ft. at the north end.
