that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at
the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be
selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable
lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the
said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned
in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said
lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to
the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Situated at the junction of the Waitiri and Ratanui Roads.
Access from Douglas Railway-station, from eleven miles and
a half to twelve miles distant, about eight miles of which is
by metalled road, and part of the remaining distance is under
construction as a bridle-track; access also from Eltham,
from twenty-three miles and a half to twenty-four miles
distant, twenty-one miles of which is metalled. The sections
comprise some fair flats along the top ridge, with steep spurs
and gullies along the sideling. The forest is light on the
flats, but heavy on the sideling, and comprises tawa, rata,
rimu, &c., and a fairly heavy undergrowth of supplejacks, &c.
The soil is of good quality, resting on a papa formation, and
the sections are well watered. A right-of-way 1 chain wide
is reserved through Section 11 from the Ratanui Road to
Section 4, as shown on plan, subject to the condition that
on demand by the lessee of Section 11 the owners of Section
4 must do half the fencing required on one or both sides
of the right-of-way.

Situated on the Ratanui and Karewa Roads. Access from
Douglas Railway-station, about fourteen miles distant, of
which about eight miles is metalled, and part of the balance
is under construction as a bridle-track; access also from
Eltham, about twenty-six miles distant, twenty-one miles of
which is metalled. The section comprises some good flats
along the road frontage, the spurs and gullies falling away
steeply to the lower boundary. The forest is medium to
light on the flats, but heavy on the sideling, and comprises
tawa, rata, rimu, &c., and a fairly heavy undergrowth of
supplejacks, &c. The section is well watered.

road for about eight miles, part of the remaining distance
being under construction as a bridle-track; access also from
Eltham, about twenty-seven to thirty-one miles distant,
about twenty-one miles being metalled. The sections comprise
a few small flats along the road frontage, with steep spurs
and gullies and gorgy creeks, and are covered with a fairly
heavy forest of tawa, rata, rimu, &c., with a fairly dense
undergrowth of supplejacks, &c. The sections are well
watered.

distant, eight miles of which is metalled, and part of balance

miles being metalled. The section comprises one or two
small flats along the road frontage; the balance is rough,
comprising steep spurs. The land is covered with a fairly
heavy forest of tawa, rata, rimu, &c., and a fairly dense
undergrowth of supplejacks, &c. The soil is of good quality,
on a papa formation, and the section is well watered.

Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or
Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that
the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for
sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of
May, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen; and also that
the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option
of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation
with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I
do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be
sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule
hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, oc-
cupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the
Land Act, 1908.

Weighted with £10 9s., half-cost of 57 chains fencing.
Level land. Soil peaty on surface, yellow clay subsoil,
partly clear and partly covered with burnt bush worked out
by sawmills; timber of no commercial value. Water can
be obtained by sinking. Situated about three miles and a
half from Mokotua Railway-station and two miles and a
half from Timpany's Siding.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand
nine hundred and fourteen.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Westland Land District.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first
section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that
the Governor may from time to time, either by general or
particular description, and whether the same has been
surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding
that the same may be then held under pastoral
license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required
for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve
from sale the lands in the Westland Land District described
in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the
said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions
of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres 2 roods 16 perches, more or less,
being Section 1500, Block I, Punakaiki Survey District.
