Notice to Mariners No. 25 of 1914.


AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—ERECTION OF DOLPHINS IN MECHANICS BAY.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 10th March, 1914.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that they are erecting three temporary dolphins in Mechanics Bay for the purpose of mooring the dredgers when engaged upon the work of reclamation for the Railway Department at that spot. The dolphins will be removed as soon as the work is completed.

Notice to Mariners No. 26 of 1914.


NEW RAILWAY WHARF AT PICTON.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 11th March, 1914.

NOTICE is hereby given that on and after 16th March the new Railway Wharf at Picton is to be used for all shipping visiting the port, and that the Railway Department is going to pull up the old wharf. On the same date the fixed green light now exhibited from the new wharf will be discontinued, and a fixed red light will be exhibited in its place from the same elevation. The red light now exhibited from the old railway wharf will be discontinued, and during removal of this wharf a fixed green light will be exhibited. Masters of vessels are cautioned against anchoring in the fairway so as to obstruct the approach to or departure from the new wharf.

Astronomical Tables.


Hector Observatory,

THE following astronomical tables are published for general information. They give the New Zealand Standard mean time when the sun is on the meridian of the Hector Observatory, Wellington, and the sun’s apparent right ascension at apparent noon, Wellington. The adopted position of the transit instrument at the Hector Observatory is longitude 11 h. 39 m. 4·3 s. east of Greenwich and latitude 41° 17′ 3·8″ south, height 418 ft. above 1909 mean sea-level.
