Public Service Stores Tender Board.—Supply and Delivery of Forage.

Wellington, 2nd March, 1914.

TENDERS are invited for the supply and delivery of forage as may be required by the New Zealand Government at Invercargill during the twelve months, 1st April, 1914, to 31st March, 1915.

Tenders, addressed to the undersigned, marked on the covering envelope “Tender for Forage,” will be received up till 5 p.m. on Monday, 16th March, at the office of the Public Service Stores Tender Board, Wellington. Copies of conditions of supply, with forms of tender, may be obtained at the Defence Office, Invercargill. A deposit of £10 must accompany each tender.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Lands in Wellington Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for leases of the undermentioned lands will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 6th May, 1914, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.

Situated in Main Street, about a quarter of a mile from the railway-station by metalled road. Flat land, in grass, with soil of a light volcanic nature, on grit and shingle formation. Elevation, about 2,460 ft. above sea-level.

Eketahuna County.—Brownston Township.

Situated in Brownston Township, about 20 chains from Hukanui Railway-station. Flat land; grassed, stumped, and logged. Soil is of fair quality, on shingle formation.

Rangitikei County.—Maungakaretu Survey District.

Situated at junction of Murray’s Track with the Rongo-iti Road, about three miles distant from Mataroa. Section is a natural clearing, and consists of rough broken land in native grass, with patches of flax. Soil is a light brown loam, on papa formation. Elevation ranges from about 1,700 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-level.

Kiwitea County.—Apiti Survey District.

Situated on Otamakapua Road, about three miles from Kimbolton. Undulating grassed land, with soil of good quality—a strong loam, on shingle formation. The forest has been cleared, but scrub is appearing in one or two places.

Umutoi Village is situated at the junction of the Umutoi and Apiti–Norsewood Roads, about nine miles from Apiti. Flat or easy sloping land; fairly well watered.

Pahiatua County.—Township of Makuri.

Situated in Makuri Township, about twenty miles from Pahiatua by metalled road. Flat and sloping land; felled and grassed, and irregularly fenced.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or post-office order for six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. lease fee.

  2. There are no restrictions or limitations as to the number of sections which one person may lease, and no declaration is required. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.

  3. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of tender.

  4. The leases shall be for the term specified.

  5. The rent shall be paid half-yearly in advance.

  6. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease, without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  7. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbrier on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweetbrier, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  8. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee fails to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within thirty days after the date on which the same ought to have been fulfilled.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 326 of the Land Act, 1908, that the undermentioned land will be disposed of under the provisions of the said Act on or after Tuesday, the 24th day of March, 1914.
