whereas it is desired to make an additional regulation with respect to the examination of winding-engine drivers:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said section sixty-one, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following additional regulation for the purpose aforesaid; and doth hereby declare that this regulation shall form part of the regulations made under the said Act on the twentieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and published in the Gazette of the sixth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and shall come into force on the day of the publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette:—

“42A. After the completion of the qualifying service specified in section eighteen of the Inspection of Machinery Amendment Act, 1908, each candidate for examination for a winding-engine driver's certificate must, as part of his examination, undergo a practical test and satisfy an Inspector of Mines and a duly qualified certificated winding-engine driver approved by the said Inspector of Mines that such candidate is competent to raise and lower men in a mine or coal-mine by means of a winding engine or machinery. On receipt of a certificate from the Inspector of Mines and the duly qualified certificated winding-engine driver that the candidate has passed the practical test specified in this regulation, the Chief Inspector of Machinery may authorize the candidate to be examined for the written and oral part of the examination, at such time and place as is specified in the regulations.

Lake Rotokawau, Blocks II and III, Rangaunu Survey District, declared a Sanctuary for Imported and Native Game.


LIVERPOOL, Governor

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Animals Protection Act, and that no imported or native game shall be taken or killed within the said area.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District situated in Blocks II and III, Rangaunu Survey District, and known as Lake Rotokawau, and the area within a line parallel to and 5 chains from the edge of the said lake.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

Land at Wainono, South Canterbury, declared to be a Sanctuary for Imported and Native Game.


LIVERPOOL, Governor

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, do hereby notify and declare that the area described in the Schedule hereto, comprising lands the property of H. B. S. Johnstone, Esq., of Springbank, Otaio, and known as the Pot Holes, shall be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Animals Protection Act, and that no imported game or native game shall be taken within the said area.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing about 93 acres, being parts of Rural Sections Nos. 13828 and 16694 in Block XII, Waimate Survey District. Bounded by a line commencing at post No. 1, being the south-eastern corner of Rural Section No. 9470, thence east, distance 3100 links, to post No. 6; thence north, distance 1700 links, to post No. 5; thence north-west, distance 1220 links, to post No. 4; thence north-west, distance 3229 links, to post No. 3; thence south-west, distance 1000 links, to post No. 2;

and thence south, distance 4300 links, to post No. 1, the place of commencement.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

Regulations for Deer-shooting, Buller.


LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in that part of the Buller Acclimatization District east, or Westport side, of the Buller River, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.


REGULATIONS.

  1. RED-DEER stags may be taken or killed within that part of the Buller Acclimatization District east, or Westport side, of the Buller River from the 16th March, 1914, to the 30th April, 1914 (both days inclusive).

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Westport, on payment of a license fee of £1, in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations; provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  3. No licensee shall take or kill more than two stags.

  4. No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  5. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding £20.

Regulations for Deer-shooting, Grey District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in the Grey District Acclimatization District, comprising the County of Grey, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.


REGULATIONS.

  1. FALLOW-DEER bucks may be taken or killed within the Grey District Acclimatization District from the 16th day of March, 1914, to the 15th day of May, 1914, both days inclusive.

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Greymouth on payment of a license fee of £2, in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations. The number of such licenses shall not exceed fifteen; provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.
