Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Mangere Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MANGERE ROAD DISTRICT.

Result of Poll on Loan Proposals.

I HEREBY give notice, pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, that on the 1st December, 1914, a poll of the ratepayers of the Mangere Road District was held at the Mangere Public Hall in due conformity with law upon the proposal to raise a special loan of £2,000 for (a) the purchase of land (Lot 16, Section 30) at the corner of Queen Street, Onehunga, and Mangere Bridge Road for the purpose of widening the approach to the new Mangere Bridge, £1,500; (b) the improvement and completion of the approaches to the new Mangere Bridge at the Onehunga end thereof, £500. And that the number of votes recorded for and against such proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 131; against the proposal, 26.

I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in pursuance of section 48 of the Land Act, 1908, approved of meetings of the Westland Board being held during the year 1915 at the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika, on 20th January, 17th February, 19th March, 21st April, 19th May, 16th June, 21st July, 18th August, 15th September, 20th October, 17th November, and 15th December.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in pursuance of section 48 of the Land Act, 1908, approved of meetings of the Hawke’s Bay Land Board being held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, at 10 o’clock a.m. on 8th January, 12th February, 12th March, 9th April, 14th May, 11th June, 9th July, 13th August, 10th September, 8th October, 12th November, and 10th December; and at the local Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, on 11th January, 12th April, 12th July, and 11th October during the year 1915.

IN pursuance of the provisions of section 64 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913, I, William Ferguson Massey, the Minister of Lands for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby give you notice that the land owned by you, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 151, folio 243, consisting of 3,559 acres, known as part of the Annedale Estate, situated in the Castlepoint County, Wellington Land District, is required for the purposes of settlement.

Applications invited for the Positions (Two) of Poultry Instructor.

Office of Public Service Commissioner,
Wellington, 18th November, 1914.

  1. APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 14th December for the positions (two) of Poultry Instructor, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce.

  2. Applications must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  3. Applicants must furnish evidence of—

(a.) A sound knowledge of the different breeds of poultry, ducks, geese, turkeys, &c., especially when viewed from the utility standpoint.

(b.) A thorough understanding of the management of both large and small flocks of poultry, particularly in regard to their mating according to breed, characters, and pedigree of performance.

(c.) A complete acquaintance with the most approved methods of artificial hatching and brooding, and the working of the different incubators on the market, as well as heated and cool brooders.

(d.) A practical knowledge of fattening and preparing table poultry for the market, and also the handling, preserving, and marketing of eggs under modern conditions.

(e.) Ability to impart instruction by lectures, demonstrations, and correspondence.

  1. The appointments will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

  2. The positions will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £180; maximum, £220.
