OMAKA ROAD BOARD.

THE following resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Omaka Road Board held on 11th December, 1913, and confirmed at a meeting held on 8th January, 1914:—

That the interest and sinking fund on the special loan of £3,000 granted to the Board by the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Office, under the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, and any amendments thereof, for the purpose of constructing certain bridges and culvert, be in future paid out of the general funds of the Board.

That the interest and sinking fund on the special loan of £1,500 granted to the Board by the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Office, under the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and any amendments thereof, for the purpose of providing the Board’s share of the cost of constructing the Wairau River Bridge, near Renwicktown, be in future paid out of the general funds of the Board.

FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE, 2ND OCTOBER, 1913.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its subsequent amendment, the Franklin County do hereby resolve as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,500, authorized to be raised by the Franklin County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of the following works—widening, forming, and metalling parts of the Hunua to Railway-station Road, Hill’s Road, Hunua to Paparimu Road, Whisky Creek Road to Kauri Clump Road (in all £1,160), and widening and forming Martin’s Road, Fall’s Road, Jones’s Road, Pollock’s Road, Creamery Road, and bridle-track, Paparimu to Maungatawhiri (in all £290); expenses, £50; total, £1,500—the said Franklin County Council hereby make and levy a special rate of a third of a penny in the pound upon the capital value of such parts of the special-rating area, as hereinafter defined, where the rating upon the capital value is in force, and 41/64th of a penny in the pound (being equivalent to the above) upon such parts of the said area where the rating upon the capital value is in force. The special-rating area is as follows: The whole of the rateable properties in the Hunua Road District (in which district the rating upon the unimproved value is in force), together with the following properties in the Opaheke Road District—Sections 95, part 96, Block 6; 126, Block 6; 94, Blocks 6 and 7; 200, Block 6; 204, Block 7; 93, Blocks 6 and 7; 128, 250, 37, 11, and 12, Blocks 7 and 9; 13, Block 11; 81A, Block 7: also the following properties in the Paparata Road District—130, 133 135, Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, being all the properties in the Happy Valley Estate, Blocks 7 and 11: and the following properties in the Maungatawhiri Outlying District—Sections 90, 64, 56, 54, 6, 5, 98, 7, Block 3; 89, 97, Blocks 13 and 3; 97A, Blocks 13 and 14; 100, Block 14; 101, 102, 103, 56, 57, Block 4; 58A, 58, 61, 61B, 108, 46, 60, Block 8; 62 and 63, Block 7. And that such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of August in each and every year, at the office of the Council, during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above resolution was passed at a regular meeting of the Franklin County Council held on 2nd October, 1913.

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOTICE is hereby given that this Council proposes to execute a certain public work, and for that purpose to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto.

The work proposed to be undertaken is the construction of a new line of road through Whangara E Block, Block XIV, Whangara Survey District.

All persons having any objection to the taking of the land, or who will be injuriously affected by the construction of the proposed road, are required to state their objection in writing, and send the writing to the office of the Cook County Council, Childers Road, Gisborne, on or before the 16th day of February, 1914.

A plan of the land to be taken and of the works to be undertaken may be seen at the office of the Council during office hours.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1897, the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1899, the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1908, and the Public Works Act, 1908, and its amendments.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Wellington City Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work—namely, the widening of Mercer and Wakefield Streets, in the City of Wellington—and for the purpose of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken.

And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and is there open for inspection, without fee, by all persons during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of such land are called upon, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or the taking of the said land, to set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Wellington City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at his said office.

BOROUGH OF BALCLUTHA.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that, at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Balclutha taken on the 28th day of January, 1914, on the proposal of the Balclutha Borough Council to borrow the sum of £500 for the purpose of completing the construction of new and strengthening existing protective embankments to protect the borough from river floods, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 32; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
