NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 326 of the Land Act, 1908, that the undermentioned land will be disposed of under the provisions of the said Act and its amendments on or after Thursday, the 16th day of April, 1914.

IMPROVEMENTS.
The improvements which go with the sections comprise:— Block XV, Otahoua Survey District —Section 1, 148 chains of boundary fencing, valued at £70; Section 2, 111 chains of boundary fencing, valued at £50; Section 3, 157 chains of boundary and internal fencing and old yards, valued at £60; Section 5, 5¼ chains of boundary fencing, valued at £2; Section 6, 10¾ chains of boundary fencing, valued at £4; Section 8, 347 chains of boundary and internal fencing, valued at £200; Section 9, 150 chains of boundary and internal fencing, valued at £50; Section 10, 269 chains of boundary and internal fencing and whare, valued at £200; Section 11, 102 chains of boundary and internal fencing and dam, valued at £80; Section 12, 130½ chains of boundary and internal fencing and dam, valued at £60; Section 13, 152 chains of boundary and internal fencing, valued at £110; Section 14, 158½ chains of boundary and internal fencing, valued at £110.
Block XVI, Otahoua Survey District.—Section 1, 36 chains of boundary fencing and old whare, valued at £20.
Block III, Wainui-oru Survey District.—Section 1, 167¾ chains of boundary and internal fencing and two dams, valued at £40; Section 2, 190½ chains of boundary and internal fencing, valued at £50;
Block IV, Wainui-oru Survey District.—Section 1, 132 chains of boundary and internal fencing, valued at £200; Section 2, 334 chains of boundary and internal fencing, old whare, fowl-yards, water-windlass, &c., valued at £230.
The improvements which do not go with the sections, but which must be paid for separately, comprise: Section 8, Block XV, Otahoua Survey District—eight-roomed house with all conveniences, tanks, also house 24 ft. by 12 ft. by 8 ft., two-stalled stable, loose-box and loft, cart-shed, cow-bail, store-room and wool-shed, the whole valued at £740.
DESCRIPTION OF SECTIONS.
Sections 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 11, and 12, Block XV, Otahoua Survey District, are situated on the Westmere Road. Access is from Masterton, which is from fifteen to eighteen miles distant, via Weraiti and Westmere Roads, twelve miles of which are good metalled dray-road. Comprise for most part low hills and easy slopes, with river flats; mostly ploughable; in fair grass, with rushes in places on the damper flats. Soil stiff clay, on papa formation, with alluvial deposit also on Sections 1 and 2. Most of the sections are well watered.
Sections 9 and 13, Block XV, Otahoua Survey District, are reached by about one mile of an unformed branch road from the Westmere Road. The access is from Masterton, which is about eighteen miles distant, via Weraiti and Westmere Roads. Section 9 comprises river flats cut up by deep streams. Section 13, good river flats and easy hills. About half of each section is ploughable. Both are in fair grass, with rushes on some of the flats. Section 13 has patches of shelter bush. Soil is river deposit, varying from stiff clay to grit, on papa formation. Both well watered.
Sections 3, 10, and 14, Block XV, and Section 1, Block XVI, Otahoua Survey District, are situated on Beetham’s Road, the access being from Masterton, which is from sixteen to nineteen miles distant, by the Weraiti and Beetham’s Roads. The former is a coach-road, metalled for about twelve miles; the latter is unformed. Low hills and easy undulating country, with flats. The sandstone hills on Sections 3, 10, and 14 are poor, and partly under manuka. Section 1 is intersected by wide and deep streams. Soil varies from medium to stiff clay, on sandstone and papa formation. Sections 10, 14, and 1 are partly ploughable. All well watered.
Sections 1 and 2, Block III, and 1 and 2, Block IV, Wainui-oru Survey District, are situated on Beetham’s Road, the access being from Masterton, which is about twenty to twenty-one miles distant, by the Weraiti and Beetham’s Roads. The former is a coach-road, with twelve miles metalled; the latter is unformed. Section 1, Block III, comprises flats and easy sidlings; Section 2, Block III, mixed country, with steep sidlings and river flats; Sections 1 and 2, Block IV, flats and hills. All are in poor grass, with manuka and heather. There are clumps of birch on Section 2, Block III, and 1 and 2, Block IV. Soil varies from light sandy to heavy clay, on sandstone and papa formation. Section 1, Block IV, is rocky at the back. All well watered.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
The Poroporo Settlement, which comprises an area of about 9,430 acres recently acquired from Messrs. Stone-Wigg and Beetham, is situated to the south-east of Masterton, the distance to the various sections ranging from about fifteen to twenty-one miles. The access is by the Weraiti Road, thence by the Westmere Road to the western portion and by Beetham’s Road, now under construction to the eastern portion of the settlement. The western sections comprise for the most part easy country, with river flats and low hills in fair grass, suitable for dairying; the eastern sections are poorer country, under manuka and heather in places. A large portion of the settlement is ploughable, and all of the sections are fairly or well watered.
